Day time running lights

Hi ,

Just picked up my 19 x5. 4.0 m sport.

I did not get the laser lights due to not being able to use them really where I live. I noticed after that the angel eyes are more full on the laser lights. Had I known that I would have got them. Just wanted to make sure all know this. Without laser you get two lines for halos with laser you get 3/4 circle type shape. I’m annoyed. Which I knew earlier!

Curious as to why you wouldn't be able to use them

Wow. Never knew this either. Just looked at my local dealer inventory online and it’s clear they are different.

Good PSA message here.

Ya just looked and see the difference now - that kinda sucks as they don't really look like BMW halo's on the standard lights.

The turn signals are different and look better on the laser headlights as well.

Here are the regular led daytime lights. Just took these. The $1k is worth it alone for the better angel eyes.

Sounds good, sometimes it works better on the PC website vs app

It's not really an issue. BMW launches vehicles loaded with all the options and doesn't follow up with photos of "standard" vehicles when orders open.

Standard LED headlights doesn't have the full signature corona rings like the optional Laser headlines.

Top photo - standard LED headlights with partial corona rings and signals on the sides.

Bottom - optional Laser headlights with full signature corona rings and turn signals on top.

Meh looks like mobile upload isn't working.

Yep. Upload not working.

It's not an "issue" but it doesn't look like a bmw. I'm surprised bmw did that and didn't give the full rings on all models. It looks so much better with full rings. Annoyed (still)

+1

I agree. It was a distinctive feature of all BMWs for many years and now feels like they're removed it so they can up charge with laser.

Here is a picture below

Shows the "dissing" BMW gives you if you don't purchase the laser show.

.
I actually saw one today and know what you mean now. They're not fully shaped like the laser lights. I'm glad I got the laser lights but at the same time it seems like BMW is trying to differentiate options more whether we like it or not. Personally I think they both look good in their own way even though I prefer the full shape.

Edit: Most of the Germans seem to differentiate their headlights in some way so I wouldn't be offended by the styling difference. If you want an example look at how Audi does theirs for the HID vs LED headlights

Yeah... I was joking about BMW "dissing" non laser owners. I agree - both look fine in their own way. It's too bad BMW can't be more specific about features and what you do/don't get. It's really hard to determine, too often in my opinion.

Same idea with the idea that adding a trailer hitch takes away the ability to open the trunk with foot movement. It may seem obvious in hindsight (I actually knew this before purchasing) but there is really no disclosure about this and others have been disappointed to learn it's missing. Same thing with understanding where ACC is included or not. All things I've seen others confused by, in these forums.

I did way more homework than your average buyer does and I'm still tripping over unexpected additions or omissions depending on the options and packages you ordered.

I am with you on this one, disappointed I don't get the full rights, but the laser headlights especially in the US are not worth the added expense to me and would not pay a grand to have 2 more inches LED added.
