G05 Delivery Checklist

Since it seems like there are quite a few options, particularly for Connected Drive, WiFi, etc., I'm wondering if it's worth compiling a delivery checklist for folks who will be picking up a car. So, if you took delivery of a new X5 (or are picking one up soon),
  • what did/will you make sure to check before leaving the dealership?
  • What do you wish you checked?

Updated from thread:

Prior to taking delivery
1. Ask for any software updates to be done
2. If desired/appropriate, ask that no front license plate holes are drilled
3. Confirm Connected Drive emails account

Day of delivery
1. Confirm price and details of agreed upon deal
2. Confirm options/package as ordered/listed
3. Exterior/interior
- check paint damage
- check interior for problems, damage
- confirm all usb/power ports work
- confirm all controls work
- confirm all extras included
- tools, net, floor mats?
4. Confirm Connected Drive works
5. Confirm all app services work
- apple carplay
6. Check air pressure in tires (history of over-inflating at some dealers)

After delivery
1. If desired, turn off steering intervention

What else?

I take delivery on Tuesday. I have been monitoring the threads here and have handwritten notes that I need to rework on Monday.

My mobility has been limited due to foot surgery so it was not convenient to go to the dealer. In the meantime, my salesperson has been slow to respond to the latest queries.

I at least want questions of software, colors, tires along with other order specifics confirmed before I show up Tuesday morning.

Garage List
Double and triple check the paperwork, make sure you have all of your numbers right. You never know what they'll throw in at the end. A percentage point here, a couple thousand there, it all adds up.

And yes, just read threads, make notes, and build you own list of things to check. Mine you, don't waste time on things you can change, focus on making sure your end is covered.

Things I can think of now:

1. Price
2. Features/package as listed
3. Exterior/interior
4. Software update, if any
5.

Pls feel free to add/change

i mean this is a cool thread and all, but for those of us doing a PCD or working with an out of state dealer, what options do we *really* have? i'm not gonna fly/drive all the way to south carolina and then refuse to take delivery if one of the USB ports doesn't work...

Right, you've got to use your individual situation when determining what you want to look for/test. My list was for when you are physically picking up your car. In your situation, you will be left using your warranty with your dealer to remedy any issues you find. Hope you have a good dealer.

I have bought cars out of state without going to look at them but had trusted friends go look at/drive them for me. If you don't have this option, we will all pray for you

i leased from an out of state dealer but any issues I'll take it up with the service department of my local dealer, they are, or have been, very good with us on our F15.

I bought my car out of state and had the same concerns. I gave my CA a list of specific concerns and received pictures / assurances that things were working prior to shipping. I agree, this was the most nerve-wracking part of the deal, but the discount was so good, it was worth the risk. In the end, there was one scratch that I needed to make a claim on and the out of state dealer made good on it. Like Marty said, I think it is all about your dealer!
