Unable to remove Valet notification
Featured on BIMMERPOST.com I used to post here a lot when I ordered my X5, I even helped a decent few setup their new vehicles. Anyway, I got into a bad accident about 2 months ago and just got my car back. The car still recognized my key and phone, and it took a minute to go over everything again - however, I am unable to get the notification "Activate Valet" to go away. It's obviously not ground breaking, however, seeing the "1" at the top of the screen is mildly infuriating. I tried resetting the electronics to no avail. Wondering if anyone has an idea of what to do to get the damn Activate Valet (I obviously tried activating it/ deactivating it a few times). It just keeps asking for me to add/ confirm a 4 digit code and then activates valet, but doesn't go away once I log back in.

You can get rid of it. You have to go under general settings than into the valet mode. On the right there is an option. Mine is off. The option is prompt says something like start at the end of the rip.... Sorry on my phone or I would be able to get more details but YES you can.

Just got my car back from the dealer where the software was updated and for some reason the valet mode notification was reactivated. Took me a few minutes to find again where to turn it off since it's not under the normal settings.
You need to go up to the top of the control panel screen (iDrive controller up or touch), select the notification tab/box, and then on the right side of the screen you'll see "settings." From there, you can turn off different notifications, including the valet one. And a little rant: why they completely eliminated the usefulness of the options button is beyond me. This is the perfect scenario where the option button would be useful. And, if you're going to make it a useless button, why keep the button? |

No, you can always select it when you park. Press up and the option is there.
