6% off MSRP?

I emailed a few dealerships in South Jersey/Eastern PA and first response is a little over 6% off MSRP. This is my first BMW, and i haven't bought a car since late 2011, so I'd appreciate the feedback. Should I be pushing back? I haven't heard from others so I have no idea if I am being naive if I take it. It's for a 2025 xdrive40i build. Delivery, I am told, is sometime in June. Thanks

I’m in south Jersey and was told to look for 7-8% off in a 40i right now. I wound up going for the m60 and once again was told to look for 5% off, but found that none of the regional dealers wanted to discount a “M model” more than 2.5% even though it’s not the “real” M model.

I wound up going through a broker who secured 5% off but of course offset by the fee.

Welcome to the forum. That is in the ballpark for that area. You may be able to push it another percent or so.

Wow...thank you both for such a quick response...I feel like I found the right place to ask questions! Is a June delivery likely or do you think the dealer is being too optimistic?

The other thing I should mention is that a couple places were willing to give me the full discount but then tried to hide that they were increasing the MF on the lease thereby cancelling out some of the discount. So make sure you’re looking at the complete deal.

As long as they have an allocation it might even be faster. I put my order in last week and have a week 21 (5/19) production. I will hopefullyhave the car before the end of May or soon after.

As mentioned above, it really all depends on whether they have an allocation, or priority 3 order, that they can use for your order. If they have one for May then June will be no problem at all. Prior to placing your order you will want to ask them if they have an allocation for it.

Yes, this is for a "cash" deal, so I am curious if that's where they want to "get me", in any financing or lease terms. I guess I sound paranoid but had one dealer want to charge me over $3000 for options that are already included in the proce of packages I selected...in other words, charging me twice. Just hate this process.

Most dealers mark up the APR/MF but since you are doing a cash deal it wouldn't affect you. You do want to make sure there are no mandatory dealer add-ons (ceramic, security devices, tint, etc.).

Depending on where you work you may be eligible for the corporate discount. Check to see if you employer is included, it is only $500 but it is something.

dealers are getting a good amount of allocation for 25 40s so the target is 8% off before rebates and buy rate MF or APR

I'm in the Pittsburgh area, and they wouldn't offer more than 3.5% off MSRP. They claim it's the larger-volume dealers that can get more off. Bogus?

I found one I like, but I'm questioning whether I'm expecting too much for my region, or if they're blowing smoke?

If a 40i I would say they are blowing smoke. Reach out to a number of dealers in your area or within a 2 hr drive and bet you’ll get at least 6%. Car sales are hurting regardless of what dealers will try to tell you.

I have always bough cars in larger markets because there are usually more than 1 dealer per brand competing with each other. I use the best price I get as leverage and work from there. Our 2025 X5 - picking up 5/9 we bought locally, next closest dealer is over 2 hours away, and we got around 11% off. I don’t think they can sell the allocation they currently have, so maybe - small towns work better? This is the first car I have ever bought locally, because I always have the opposite problem. It’s also the first car I’ve bought new in the this price range, much more people in the market for 30K cars than 83k cars.

I just got $7105 in dealer discounts plus $4K Navy Federal discount in metro DC. That turns out to be 8.78% in dealer discount and 13.72% of MSRP overall. Build was a custom order 2025 XDrive40I with m sport package, mineral white, premium package, m professional package, parking assistance package, climate package, massage seats, and tow hitch, spare.

Shop around to you get a good deal on paper. Once you get it in writing, shop around the estimate with other dealers. There are deals. Some will give you BS in they have tight margins but that's not the case.

Did you get quotes for 50e also? Can you please share the dealer info - I may or may not be able to send PM - the site is acting weird by sometimes allowing and sometimes not allowing.

I got 6% off plus $1000 loyalty and 4.49% for 72 months. Could have done better but did not want to drive out of town and they gave me the trade in for my car what I asked them per KBB. This was for a march built 2024 40i. 2025 only had $500 loyalty and heavily marked up rates.
