Missing sensor

The other day my iDrive display started behaving oddly. Signaling close proximity when there was none, showing a forward view on the screen at lower speeds, beeping while sitting in traffic at a light, etc. I looked around to see if a sensor was blocked and, surprise, one seems to be missing. I put my finger in the hole but can't feel it anywhere inside.

This is a '23 45e with all the driver assist toys, so I'm wondering, is this an in-warranty replacement? Also, any idea what this sensor is for? The manual doesn't reference it.

(Going in for my first oil change shortly so hoping to get it fixed then.)

My guess is that it is behind the bumper somewhere. Since it is still going off should mean that the wires are still attached. The dealer should be able to just pop it back in.

Thanks. Parking sensor makes sense, given the behavior at low speeds.

Good point. I don't know what's involved with getting in there, but I hope you're right.
