New to the BMW community and have never used AA in any car, though I’ve used Google Maps on my phone many times, (Pixel 6 Pro).

What functionality would I be missing from BMW maps if using Google Maps (HUD, Screen use, etc.)?

Also, anything else on the iDrive 8 that AA would take over?

The HUD works with AA - I use it all of the time. I think you lose things like smart energy use (car knows the route and optimizes between EV and gas etc). But honestly, I never use BMW maps and just stick to AA and have been fine and happy.

I was just reading the manual about that, it's called Anticipatory hybrid drive. I'd be interested to see how that works.

I could see it not being available using AA.
