G05 X5 45e US Hybrid Battery to EU Spec
Does anyone know the E-Sys codes required to increase the Hybrid Battery state of charge limitations for US vehicles to match the EU spec? We have the same 24kwh battery but are limited to 17kwh while EU spec allows for 21kwh. There are people that code this for a fee but I cannot find the code to do this myself.

I've seen this and really want to avoid paying someone $500 for coding that could likely be done yourself. I'd pay $100 but anything above that seems excessive. Maybe there's a way to compare the code between the US and EU spec to find the deltas.

Please let us know if you find a solution that doesn't involve $500!!

Coding 4.5e US battery to European specs
I have a 22 4.5e that I had coded by Code My Bimmer just after I purchased it. I had a number things changed then. The recent i-drive software update removed all the coding that had been done so I scheduled a recoding session for last night. While he was going to recode all the items I had originally had done, he mentioned that they had a new feature available to code the battery to use the larger capacity that Europe enjoys (21.6 kWH vs 17.06). After charging last night the battery range is showing 42 miles, normally in the low 30's. My friend who had his coded at the same time is showing 49 miles this morning.
The company is wonderful to deal with. The initial coding is $100 for any or all of the items available, and $50 for any re-coding needed due to i-drive updates. Highly recomended: https://www.codemybimmer.ca/g-chassis-coding/ Comfort and Convenience Features • Windows to Close with Key Fob • Disable Active Sound Design (Artificial Engine Sound) • Enable Windows to Close when Doors are Open • Enable Automatic Trunk to be Closed with Key Fob/Footwell switch • Enable Soft Closing of Automatic Trunk • Turn off Horn on Secure Feature when Locking with Engine Running • Enable Sunroof Closing when Vehicle is Parked and Raining (If equipped) • Enable Automatic Activation of Seat and Steering Wheel Heating Safety Features • Change Speed Limit Info Sign to ECE (Circle with Red Outline) • Enable Rear Camera Zoom • Change Default Camera View to Automatic (For vehicles equipped with 5DN) • Tire Pressure and Temperature Displays (For vehicles equipped with TPMS) • Turn off Seat Belt Reminder for Driver/Passenger • Enable Assisted Driving View on G05/G06/G20 (Requires 5AU and Software from July 2019) • Enable Automatic Lane Change Assist (Requires 5AT or 5AU) • Enable Automatic Speed Limit Assistant (Requires 5AT for SP15 Models, all SP18 Models For Cruise Control and LIM) • Enable Traffic Light Detection (Requires 5AU and Software from July 2020) • Enable Give Way Warning / Yield Warning on Pre-LCI G01/G02/G11/G12/G30 (Requires with 5AT) * • Enable Dynamic Spotlight (Requires 6UK Night Vision with 552 Adaptive LED or 5AZ BMW Laserlights) • Change Default Distance on Adaptive Cruise Control Instrument Cluster Features • Digital Speedometer • Enable Alpina Instrument Cluster Theme • Change Sport Mode Color (Red or Grey) Equipped with Live Cockpit (6U3) • Change to M Performance Instrument Cluster Theme • Change to M Vehicle Instrument Cluster Theme • Enable Tire Pressure Monitor Display Lighting Features • Turn off Amber Side Marker on Headlights • Disable Automatic Headlights in OFF Position • EU Two-Stage Brake Lamp Operation (Flashing on Emergency Braking) • Enable Anti-Dazzle High Beams (Vehicles with 552 Adaptive LED or 5AZ BMW Laserlights) • Enable Variable Light Distribution (Vehicles with 552 Adaptive LED or 5AZ BMW Laserlights) • Enable 5 Times Turn Signal in iDrive (Model Dependent) • Enable Independent Rear Turn Signals (G20 3 Series Only) iDrive/Infotainment Features • Remove Start-up and Camera Legal Disclaimers • Change Start-up Logo to M Logo • Change Warning Chimes / PDC Sounds to BMW / Mini / Rolls Royce / BMW I (iDrive 5/6, iDrive 7 with 07/2021 i-Step and Newer) • Enable Xvid, OCG, and Xvcd Format Codecs for USB Video (iDrive 5/6) • Enable Video in Motion for DVD/USB Playback • Remove Speedlock Restriction for Mobile Office and User Manuals • Enable Bang & Olufsen DSP Setting (688 – Harman Kardon Systems with Logic 7 only – iDrive 5/6) • Enable Bower & Wilkins DSP Setting (688 – Harman Kardon Systems with Logic 7 only – iDrive 7) • Enable Android Smartphone Mirroring • Change iDrive Layout to iDrive 6.0 (for MY 2016 7 Series only) Enhanced Bluetooth Coding Mobile Office Functionality • iOS – View Received Text Messages • Android – View and Reply to Text Message Conversations & Emails • Allow up to two phones to be paired to the iDrive system Drivetrain Features • Start car in your preferred driving mode (Comfort/Sport/EcoPro/Adaptive) • Auto Start/Stop System – Remember Last User Setting/Memory • Enable Sport+ Mode • Enable Comfort+ Mode (G05/G07) • Enable Sprint Mode (G20 3 Series Only) • Enable 2WD Selectable Mode (F97/F98) * * Additional Charges for Level 1, 2 or 3 Specific Items

Soft closing
That was not an option when I did the original coding and I had not noticed it, so I don't know.

OK, I sent this question to their support. Let’s see what they say. How did you get in touch with them to do remote coding? I don’t see any phone numbers listed on their website.

You can use the contact us tab. They are very responsive. Steve Ma will likely be the one that contacts you. Their customer service is outstanding. If you have cable and PC, he uses Team Viewer to connect. Typical session is 30 - 35 minutes, depending on how many things you want done.
Steve lives in Hong Kong, so he usually responds in the evening for us in the western US.

the $100 fee included modifying the HV battery usable capacity to 21.6kWh?! if so, all that coding for a great price whereas Mission charges $500 for the battery modification alone.
(steve, I hope you don’t see this message! lol) |

There's this warning (both firefox & edge) when opening the English language section of their site; Firefox detected a potential security threat and did not continue to codemybimmer.com.

After a few drives with coding to battery to European specs
I am now seeing typical 44 to 46 mile electric range after having the coding done to set it to European specs. Nice to have the extra range.

Last I saw there were only a few ECUs that were able to be coded on iD8, not sure if that has changed or not.

Cars with ID8 have secure coding which requires real time authentication with BMW's servers so the answer would be no currently.
