ASS button on 2024 X6 M60i

Does anyone know if LCI X6 M60i come with physical button to disable/enable Auto Start & Stop? Or am I forced to do this by going through bunch of menu on the touch screen?

The ASS button is removed from vehicles with the mild-hybrid and turning it off permenently can only be accomplished with coding. I have not seen yet whether that is possible on the M60i or not. You likely can use Sport Individual set to Comfort, or whatever you want, to do it.

Thank you. I will try to use bimmercode once I have the car.

I have not seen that it is able to be coded yet. iD8 limits what can be coded. Last I saw only two ECUs were accessible but that was a few months ago. Let us know if you are able to do it.

As an aside, the ability to code ASS off in iD7 has been lost in the latest version and Bimmercode is working on a solution.

Oh I see. Maybe I should wait and see. I have Bimmercode app, but do not have dongle, yet.
I guess I should just drive car in sport mode full time

Seriously? Wow…that’s one of the better Bimmercode features…now I’ll be sure not to update IDrive when it pushes through…thanks for the info!

Unfortunately with the new iD8, you will have to remember to put it in Sport Individual then click the Comfort settings every single time you get in the vehicle which is a little ridiculous on BMWs part.

The EPA certification was done with the start/stop function operational, so that's likely part of the reason why the changes.

I am curious. With the mild hybrid system, what are the issues with ASS? At one time I read complaints that the turbos would carbonize due to overheating. Lack of oil circulating was the concern. But I thought the BMW engineers built in oil circulation while the engine is stopped. Right or wrong, I am asking why ASS is a concern tiday.

Not sure about the mechanical effects on the vehicle, but can attest to the delay when trying to accelerate. I don't typically wait for there to be a mile opening on the road before I enter traffic and rely on the vehicle to go when I ask it to. While BMW's start/stop function is better than the one Audi used in 2018, it's still a hindrance and has put me in uncomfortable situations. I've had some loaners with the MHEV and is still noticeable, and something I'm glad can still be toggled off (I've finally gotten used to do it 4 yrs later) on my 23 M50i. I'd be interested in seeing if there is any factual data to support that adding this function actually reduces emissions in cities other than L.A./Chicago/NY where stop-and-go traffic consumes the majority of one's daily commute.

Should not be an issue with the 48V mild hybrid.
