Even if you follow best practices, every time you wash your car, it creates microscratches on the paint. A good polish/detail will repair those but I try to avoid washing my cars too often.

I have been using the California duster on my car for 8+ years with my garage kept car. The secret is not to let the dust continue to pile up. I do a quick wipe every few days and there is zero visible damage to my paint that still looks brand new.

I agree. If the dust builds up too much I wash it. I also replace the duster every 1.5 years.
