Performance Center Pickup in Spartanburg, SC

Performance center experience tomorrow. Heard its great. Factory tour, test drive on course and off road, and detailed comprehensive demonstration of all my vehicle features. Fortunately only an hour drive for me. Be able to drive my new X5 40 home tomorrow.

Enjoy the experience. Spend all the time you need with a Genius to acquaint yourself with the cars features and personalization options.

I hope you get a hot lap in the M3 with one of the drivers. I just thought I knew how to drive. Pretty darn humbling.

Let us know how it went.

By all means take a hot lap or two and be sure to ride with Donnie Issacs he's the best driver there.

Enjoy! Lots of pics please.

If you get the chance, please can you probe to see if they know more about the logic of how Remote Upgrades are being rolled out?

Also would you ask them to demo the emergency brake function whilst parking using the PDC (but only in the demo vehicle not your X5) to see whether it works. I believe this is one of the last major functions that we have not seen amongst all the members in this forum. From reading the manual I think its only supposed to work in reverse.

Donnie is the best. We were so lucky to get him as our driver. What he can do with an M3 is pretty stunning. He's funny too.

Yes we are fortunate! Donnie is a professional race car drive and it's so impressive the way he uses the paddle shifters, braked and steers a BMW. The double clutch transmission must be one stout piece of equipment cause Donnie sure punishes it. Rides like we experienced with Donnie will never be forgotten by us. A PCD is a must for a BMW car owner but most don't know a thing about it. Enjoy your new ride.

An Amazing experience! Enjoy!

I Just picked up my new X5 on 6/27. One of the best experiences! It is a world class operation at the Spartanburg facility.

From the performance center.

Sorry it's taken so long to get back to you regarding your question about automatic rear braking in PDC but we finally had some time to test it. Our test in a fleet vehicle did not stop the vehicle during an approach to an object while in reverse. It seems that system is not currently installed on the X5s. It isn't specifically noted in the PDC settings as it is on other vehicles that do have the feature. It may be added in the future but currently isn't available.

It’s like taking a mini driving school course for free, except for the cost of the BMW.
