Engine break in - distance
Have been taking it pretty easy in my 30D (comfort mode, sub 3000RPM) since I got it as I know you should let the engine break in and the brakes to a lesser extent.
Approaching 1000km (600miles) and wondering how long people are driving before pushing their X5's. Is this even a thing anymore or is broken in at the factory? |

The break in is pretty liberal, I think. Less than 100mph and under 4500 RPM. Basically means, don't gun it off the line for the first 1,200 miles. Seems more reasonable than back in the day when you had to drive less than 60 mph for 300 miles or so.

I agree with Russelldav and BMW engineers actually blamed oil consumption issues on earlier N63 engines because owners were not driving the cars hard enough during break in...but alas there is a guide to help quell the urban legends and "advice"
