Smile Ordered 2020 X5 40i Xdrive

I'm new to this forum and learned a lot about the ordering/tracking process from here. Please take the advice of others who said to call BMW genius hotline to get build date. Ordered mine last Friday; called today and they said I'm week 28 (mid July). From what I hear; July will be the end of 2020 model year and Aug they will begin 2021s. Below is my spec. Thanks.

Congrats!!! Did yours take this long from March because the plant was shut down? My build date is supposed to be mid July but I'm hoping it gets pushed up because they want to get 20MY X5s out because Aug the 21s start production.

For those who ordered, were you able to negotiate anything off the MSRP?

Yes. Original production was scheduled April 15th, Week 16 but was moved to W23 then to W26 and then back to W23. However, actual production started on May 27 @ 12:50pm (according to Genius) which is W22.

Yes. I got an excellent deal approx 10% off which seems to be inline with a lot of people in the forum. I solicited quotes from 5 different dealers here in NJ at the same time and some were only doing around 7%. I recommend doing all your negotiating via email and NOT in person. I think that helped me as well. I also think ordering prior to BMW fully re-opening the SC plant helped as well because dealers were desperate for business.

I was able to get 6.9% off (before incentives), with incentives it came to about 12.1% in the gulf coast.

What date did yours go to "scheduled for production" and has it gone to "production begins" yet?

Mine went to 'scheduled' last week and just today it went to 'production begins'... Very happy because I just spoke to genius team last week and they said I was still week 28 to begin. He did agree with me that more than likely they would try to push out all MY2020 orders quicker because in Aug they need to start on 2021s. So hopefully I can now get delivery by mid July.

That's definitely not week 28! Seems like they are moving ahead of schedule than what they told you?

Yep. They're trying to get 2020s out as soon as possible. So you should keep checking on 'My BMW' site and calling. Good luck.

Ordered 2020 X5 i40 xDrive on 06/20/20

Thanks for all your posts guys. I have been reading all your posts and comments and ordered my very first custom order build X5. Currently have 2017 340i xDrive and lease was ending in Oct. So had to make quick decision to order the one that i want since almost no slots were available anymore. Originally 2-3 NJ dealers gave 8-9% discount on MSRP but ended up having almost 12.5% discount including savings+rebates+incentives. Originally i was planning on leasing but ended up financing since i was planning to keep the car for long term. My original MSRP was $81,520, went down by $10,332. Financed for 60 months at 1.9% with $3000 down. I placed the order on June 20 Saturday and my SA told me i have to act fast since my order can go into production over the weekend. First i highly doubted since lots of you guys had hard time going into production with all the covid situation. Surprisingly i got the production number and status is "scheduled for production". Due to parts shortage, i had to compromise on massage & ventilated seats along with Adaptive M suspension
Thanks for all your advices and insights. Will keep you guys posted.

Tartufo Extended Merino Leather on Mineral White Metalic.
