Long time listener, first time caller.. Ordered my G05 on 11/3, moved the "Production Begins" 12/3, with scheduled completion date 12/9 (yesterday). According to Genius this morning, completion date is *still* 12/9 and am in the "Entering assembly line" status. So I dunno what to think!

All that said, things seem to be bogging down a bit since Thanksgiving - with dates slipping out pretty consistently. |

My car is scheduled for completion today 12/10. Genius this morning said still 12/10. My garage says "production begins" (been that way since 11/27).

Mine is 12/10 completion and went to Entering Assembly Line on Friday Night/Sat morning - still says that today. Mine was previously bumped from 12/5 completion.

Yeah. Website says "Entering Assembly Line". Automated genius line says 12/9 completion. I just got off the phone with a human being who said 12/10 (today). But he also said after that it'll be "at the port" which is funny since it's going from South Carolina to Florida. Do they actually ship it via sea from SC to FL? I mean technically it could be, but it sounds costly and slow vs. truck transport.

Success! (sort of). Automated line now says in final QA checks but now omits any future forecast dates. Guess I'll have to talk to a human from here on out.

Nice, if it goes through QC quickly (like 1 day) then it will go pretty quick to you, probably within a week if all goes well.

I'm guessing I'm now moving to that status for a prolonged period as well due to the friendly snowstorm between me and the Spartanburg factory. Awesome. |

I am confused. My week 49 on the web site is still at the very beginning as being scheduled. Robot lady says completion on the 11th. i called bmw today and they couldn't find anything. she said they have been having computer problems .which system is usually more correct?
Thanks |

I thought it took 5 days or so to build so was thinking it needed to be farther along if it was going to make the 11th.

Right now the process has been something close to this for most: 1) Go to status of “Today’s the day - begin production” in the week prior to the build week given to you by your dealer/CA 2) When you shift to production begins, call the automated line and you get an estimated production completion date that falls within your build week. 3) The day before your initial estimated production completion date - or the day of, your estimated production completion date shifts out 3-5 business days when you call the automated line (been happening since post Thanksgiving) 4) Builds have then been generally shifting over to “Entering Assembly line” the day before the new/revised estimated completion date. 5) On the day of your revised estimated completion date, you should shift over to “Quality Check” - some have seen the shift to QC the day after their revised completion date 6) Quality Check generally seems to be 1/2 day but others (me included) have been stuck in that status longer 4-6 days sometimes. 7) Shift over to “Awaiting Carrier Assignment - usually the day of or the day after revised estimated completion date but could take longer if you get hung up in QC. 8) You then usually shift over to “Dispatched from the Factory” within a day if you are on the east coast or eastern half of North America, that means you are on a truck on the way to the dealer. I believe If you are West Coast you will see an additional status “At the port” which basically means you are waiting for the train. It seems like trucks reach the dealers within 5 days and trains get vehicles to WC dealers 2-3 weeks. My experience so far - Shifted to Production Begins 11/19 estimated production complete 11/30 - On 11/30, shifted to estimated production complete 12/4 - Was in “Production Begins” for two weeks (11/19 to 12/3) - On 12/3 changed to “Entering Assembly Line” for less than 12 hours (12/3 to 12/4) - On 12/4 changed to Quality Check and stayed that way for 6.5 days (12/4 to 12/10) - this appears to be unusual and most go through QC in under a day. - On 12/10 changed to Awaiting Carrier Assignment Hoping to see “Dispatched from factory” status today with the possibility of picking it up at the dealer this weekend - we’ll see. Note that the factory shut down for four days during my build (Thanksgiving) so others may see shorter times in “Production Begins”... Last edited by lumpydog; 12-11-2018 at 08:32 AM.. |
