JB4 Install - How To?
Hey everyone,
I just got my JB4 in the mail and want to take this on over the weekend. How hard/easy is it to do? Any tips from those who ran this? How to get from inside the cabin to the engine bay? I remember on my E92 it was fairly easy to install, max of like 30-45 minutes, not sure if the G05 is the same. Any help would be greatly appreciated |

Also saw that there was a way to route it through the outside door into the fender and into the engine bay. Side question though for AlpineG05, I see in your signature you have some goodies which I would like to get. I have a '19 xDrive50i so not 100% sure if you'd know this or not, but would your goodies (Intake and DP) fit the 2019 G05 xDrive50i So it did not go according to plan. I took the metal brace off, metal plate up front, the side plastic covers, took the intake gromet off, pulled back the plastic hose underneith the grommet, but was unable to locate the tmap sensor. Does anyone have pictures or guidance of where I can locate it from both sides. Last edited by elite-fusion; 03-25-2022 at 04:33 PM.. |

Finally installed. did not need to remove anything except the 2 front braces and the plastic side panels. Did not need to remove the intake grommets and air duct tubes. I was able to get my hand in on both sides without too much issue.
The EGW plugs have been left unplugged for now since yeah, its hard to get to them, plus the turbos were HOT so I wasnt really able to get in there too easily. the driver side is decent, I was able to get it unplugged and would probably be able to connect the JB4 connector, but the passenger side was a no go due to the turbo being too hot. Also, I did NOT route through the firewall to avoid any rips/tears in it due to the plug size, instead routed it through the door jam > through fender> to the compartment where the JB4 unit is mounted. Did not feel like fiddling with the firewall grommet and poking holes, etc... I was thinking of gutting the end plug off of the OBDII cable that plugs into the JB4, routing the wire through the firewall hopefully without ripping it, and then reattaching the wire to the plug in the engine bay, but too much work, so just routed it through the fender to allow for an easier uninstall. I haven't installed mine yet but that's probably the way I'll run it too. Not sure why they can't make a bluetooth obd or something that would work.
Or have it operate without needing to be plugged in once you set map. |

I believe the OBD not needed, but definitely recommended. I remember reading about it on the n54tech.com website.

Did not swap plugs or coils as I have never done that in the past. Is this something that I can do myself? If so, please link to what I need. |

Well it’s impossible for me to say exactly what your car needs at this very moment it’s just generally a good idea to do ignition coils and spark plugs with a tune! |

So i found these:
https://burgertuning.com/products/ng...nt=42124774926 Assuming that is what I would need under higher boost for them to not run as hot as OEM. Do you happen to know what ignition coils would be good? |

On a side note, I’ve been REALLY debating to do full tune/ downpipes/exhaust and X5m carbon intake retrofit, but along with that I’ll have to do plugs/coils etc and the other things I mentioned above! I’ll be creating a build thread if/when I do it! |
