I hear dealers are getting the 21-07 updates for ista. Markham (Ontario, Canada) BMW has confirmed they have it.

I haven't been able to get the release notes yet to see what's new. Anyone have any info?

It's a major upgrade, updating most ECU, so most if not all coding will be wiped.

There is improved CarPlay, which has graphical and functional improvements.

The 'predicted lane change on navigation' (aka Tesla navigate on AP) seems to have been improved. I was routed off a motorway efficiently, but was following another car so needs more testing.

There are some other navigation changes and the HUD seemed to have more detail on exits, but I could have imagined it.

Only done a few miles so far, still observing.

For reference looks like the Service Pack 2021 features (L3+ DAP etc) are shown as available in coding from 03/2023, so guess that will align with an LCI?

Could you detail the CarPlay changes next time you go out ? Maybe some photos.

Debating whether it’s worth putting ista back on ( needed to wipe my drive for work … )

Think 'fisher price' colourful icons and highlighting.

It's probably not worth bothering as I can't see anything else that's changed other than the coded features, like adapt to route with lane change

Youll be able to use that version of ISTA, but you will need to uplift the SDP programming data to v4.30.21 which includes 07/2021.520

It's in the cartech forum hidden away. Search for sdp came out about a week ago

Only the dealer can do this update, not via OTA?

Any ability to display CarPlay Google maps on the cluster or hud? Or is that a Google limitation.

I just got the March 2021 update OTA last week, so I doubt anyone is getting the newer one OTA yet. I would have liked to think they'd go to the trouble of stuffing the latest one out when they do, but that's not the case.

Be careful what you wish for.

It's buggy. I've had rock solid CP for 18 months now, and this version has introduced some stability issues, that are only fixed by idrive resets.

Fortunately for owners who get the OTA updates, the dealer updated cars do the beta testing, so you will have less risk of bugs.

And before anyone starts banging on about Tesla releasing updates more frequently, they dont really have much of a dealer network so the distinction isnt the same. Also, having spent a lot of time in the Tesla forums researching a Model Y, the updates introduce loads of issues along with new features, so the grass isn't always greener.

Could you see any changes with 21/03 apart from the ones mentioned earlier in this thread? Or just bug fixes?

I got the update from dealer.
I noticed the Apple map is showing more info on HUD not just the arrow, such as which lane to use.
Also, there is a new app called `unevenly paved road`, it was supposed to show badly paved road on HUB or control display, but didn’t see any info popped out yet.

Lastly, maybe my illusion, it toke shorter time to charge my 45e from zero to full. On my 110v socket, it was still taking 10A, but finished within <15 hours yesterday. You know it used to take more than 20 hours (1.5miles per hour).

There is no way 45e would charge faster with a software update. Also, the uneven surface app has been added over the air independently of 07/2021 update. I have it with the 03/2021 version.
