Yes you need to put your phone on the NFC device in the back of the center console. then you can start and run the car. you can have both the key fob and the phone on you of course

Although I believe starting with the LCIs, phones that have UWB support can act like a key fob (i.e. no need to remove from pocket, tap the handles, or place on NFC pad)

Interesting why BMW not using same as Tesla approach to use Bluetooth connection as a way to open/start the car.

Did you just pair for Android auto, or also added phone as a digital key?

OK it works I replaced my digital key that was on my S22 Ultra. It asked me to replace main key and I said yes. All done. Car works with 2 key fobs, 1 digital key card and now the S23 Ultra digital key.

go to samsung Galaxy Store and go to updates.. it should be there..

Yeah, my Samsung wallet is showing that BMW keys are an option so I think that is all updated but it seems more like the BMW app now.

I was able to update my S23 Ultra so that it now works with my 45e. Very easy process.

I am a Samsung user for many years and currently using S23U. Which in your opinion works better with the X5? Samsung or Apple?

Don't think there is much of a difference. The differences would be with apple car play vs Android auto. I don't think there is much difference. Everything I have works on my Android just fine.

Just had digital key setup successfully today. 2022 x5 and s23 ultra. Did need to update phone to have Samsung wallet

ya its like using android auto for the first time you need to update it. Otherwise it has a hard time connecting in my experience.

Anyone getting "update your wallet app to the latest version" on S23 Ultra? When I try to update, it says that I already have the latest version.

I had digital key already installed on the phone, shared from my Iphone 13 Pro, but had to reset it. After the reset I deleted the shared key on Iphone wallet, shared it again but now I'm getting this error. I want to keep the main key on the Iphone. If nothing works will probably try creating the main key on Samsung and then share it with the IPhone.

It sounds like you would move it to the samsung.. share it back probably the best idea if you need 2 digital keys I am thinking

Edit: I guess the phone auto-installed some updates today as I've just tried adding the key again and it worked.

No luck. Tried adding main digital key, after lot of CPU cycles wallet said "can't add key. Try again". I tried resetting the phone, still error. While the phone was doing "Smart Switch", I got "the key is not supported in your region". When Smart Switch finished, I got the same "Update Wallet App" error.

I have a second S23 Ultra which is not restored from anything, no apps installed yet, just updated, and I get the same "update wallet" error there as well when trying to add digital key.

I am afraid one of the S23 updates since I had the key installed when I received the phone broke Samsung wallet.

I was able to get my key added finally. I had to factory reset my phone and then the key paired right up on the first try.

Apparently UWB has some benefits:

- More range
- Precise locating of the device (Welcome Animation, Locking when leaving, etc.)
- Safer
- Higher bandwidth
- Less energy usage

Finally, for those of us in Canada BMW keys just showed up in Samsung wallet. I have not tried it yet, but when I choose set up it does go through the process. S22 Ultra.

I see the option finally in my Samsung Wallet as well after updating the app... Samsung S23Ultra. I haven't activated a digital key previously so I need to go through setting up the main (primary) digital key which requires both keys and being in the vehicle so I'm currently getting "Digital Key is not available".

Will try setting up the main digital key later, once I get my hands on both keys as my other half likes to keep a key in her purse.
