Every time I try to set it up it says "Cant Pair."

Yes. It took a few tries but I got 8 Pro to work with X7. Works well once you get it to connect.

Yes. I think I got the same message. I may have restarted the phone. I can't remember. It took about 4 or 5 tries for me.

I received my Pixel 8 Pro yesterday but unfortunately my new X5 is in the shop. I'm told I'll get it back next week Thursday and I can try getting it to work then.

I wish I could help. All I can say is that it can work. I got my 8 Pro on release day and got it to connect and it has been working ever since then. I do not recall what made it work.

It would help if everyone can post the version iDrive they are running as well as the version numbers. It may work on iD7 but not 8 or early versions of 8.5 for example.

When you have time try All Apps -> System Settings -> Remote Software Upgrade to show the installed version. It could be you have an early sub version and others that have it working are later.

I could never get it work with my pixel 7 pro. But it worked flawelessly the first time on my pixel 8 pro

For the people that can't get it to work do you get the same error that I'm getting where it says "can't pair."
I tried again a bunch of times today and it will just not work. It always worked perfectly with my Samsungs

I can activate it just fine on my Pixel 6 Pro.

One thing that may help but not sure is I initially received a different message but along the same lines with my Pixel 7 Pro on iD8. The solution was to go into the digital key and click the settings to reset to factory. That solved the problem and although there may be new Bluetooth hardware in the Pixel 8 it's completely open standards based.

Also, worth noting that with both fobs in the X5 the digital key will only pair with the Connected Drive primary users cellphone. Lastly just for good measure put it in the wireless tray as although not required I had to do that once to get the Pixel 7 Pro to pair.

The other aspect is the Google Wallet. A Pixel 8 should land with the latest version but check also to see if there is an update not installed.

BMW does not support updates on demand so checking for an update does nothing. They send them out to the vehicle/phone using some unknown, likely to them lol, algorithm. The latest version is 07/2023.58.

Same iD8 on the wife's LCI 40i and now with Android 14 it works like a champ with my Google Pixel 7 Pro. While still on Android 13 the UWB for comfort access would go brain dead but now works every time. Did you try resetting the digital key plus back to factory settings? Sometimes that is needed to get a new key paired. Others went full nuclear with removing the car from My Garage, re-adding, etc.

If you haven't done this yet I'd nuke the MyBMW app from the phone and reboot. Then in the X5 select digital key and check the box to reset to factory settings (ignore the nag as useless). Then reinstall the MyBMW app. Once you get the tile for setting up digital key plus take both fobs into the X5 and give it a go. If it still doesn't work and you get the unable to pair message click the "learn more" and share what it says.
