For those who got the P8P to work, does it stay connected? The Samsungs disconnect all of the time.

So I tried it again this evening thinking it would be another fruitless effort and... it worked!

As others have said it took a few tries. I was honestly not expecting much. It cycled through a few myBMW screens and then through a few Google Wallet prompts, repeat etc... .

I wish I could recall an exact procedure to get it to work but after a few unsuccessful cycles I took my phone out of the case, clicked the email prompt and left it in the tray for about 10 mins while I was doing stuff around the house. When I came back out it had successfully connected.

This is my first digital vehicle key so I fell like I am living in the Jetson age now!

Randomly worked for me too, finally! I started the pairing process outside of the car via the my BMW app. I went through the digital key plus prompts and it finally showed me a different screen after the "pairing key to car" prompt, which said to place the phone on the wireless charging pad. Once I did that, it has a couple of "can't pair" errors but kept going through the process on its own and the iDrive screen also showed an activation screen for the first time. Took about 30 seconds and was all done. What a frustrating process but thankfully it's finally working.

I was able to pair my P8P to my X5 LCI, but coming near the car it doesn't unlock, or moving away from the car it doesn't lock. Remote parking in the app doesn't work either.
Edit: restarting the phone and idrive fixed it

Sounds like it is acting as a digital key, but not digital key plus.

I had this exact issue after finally getting Digital key to work.
I found out the wallet app on the phone needed "Near by Devices" permission. After adding that permission and restarting the phone everything worked fine

I was also able to get this working today.

One thing I did today (which I also did in the past for what it's worth) was go to settings > About phone > Android Version and then tap on Google Play system update. The date still shows January 1, 2024 which it did last time, but it said a restart was needed for the update. This also happened a few days ago and I was unable to get the digital key plus to work. Today it works though and the proximity lock/unlock is working as well.

Mine finally added to my P8P, works great. Actually not used to it today so I drove off without my wallet and regular key by accident as figured they were in my gym bag like usually had them.

It works good. The remote parking stuff is interesting, but you have to stand very close to the car, almost so close makes it useless. Will have to try out more. But the digital key with P8P works great, unlocks pretty far away and starts just fine always, etc... or worst case works on the door and charging pad well.

I just wish they would add a toggle/setting now to where you can ignore the phone for unlocking/locking at least when at home location - walking by/close to it in garage unlocks when not needed all the time.

I jumped back in and got the P8P working. It connected second try and seems to be working fine. So far, so good.

It stays connected, no issues so far.

Still no joy for me. Although I get this screen now, so progress maybe? No longer says it "can't pair" but it just hangs at this point? Any suggestions or is this happening to others?

Might be obvious but leave your phone on your wireless charging pad and let it run through the prompts. That's what I did on mine and a couple of "can't pair" errors popped up but then resolved itself, then a prompt came on my iDrive that said "activating" key and it was complete.

I would give it a few minutes and if it doesn't go pass the screen, try to reset the digital key within iDrive and restart your phone and try to initiate the process again within the mybmw app.

I am wondering if this is a Pixel only issue:

When I place the phone (w/ digital key successfully installed) into the tray, if the phone is unlocked (screen is on), the car will not recognize the key and will not start. If the phone is locked(screen off) when I place it in the tray, car will work as expected and start right up.

Is this the same for non-Pixel owners?

I have paired the S21 and the S24, the disconnection issue got resolved with an OTA (11/2023.x)

So I have P8P paired and the NFC use to work holding up to door handle now it is not. I have checked all settings. What could be wrong? I switched to a regular 8 and went back to Pro I have got it setup but now NFC won't work on it.

I see no prompts coming up - it just sits there at that screen (see earlier post). I have reset the digital key in iDrive multiple times and restarted the phone. I just updated Google wallet and MyBMW app yesterday and still nothing. I went back to my old S21+ and that worked and I was able to share the key from that device to the P8P as a workaround. I got the key onto my P8P but it was only able to open the car door not start the car - car said digital key was not recognized. So not much progress there. I am at a complete loss very frustrating with this P8P!

I have a similar issue. I bought a used '21 X5 several months ago, and was able to create a digital key with my fold4. Everything worked fine (unlocking/starting/sharing) until a couple of months ago. I had a software upgrade on both the phone and vehicle. At that time, I was only able to unlock the vehicle with the DK, when I put it in the NFC try it wasn't recognized. Since I don't use the DK on the regular, I'm not sure which upgrade put me in this state. At this point the vehicle does not recognize the phone to create the DK. I left the vehicle with BMW, and they were able verify iphones are recognized...but not android devices. They currently have a case in to resolve this issue. Hope this helps...I'll try to post again when the issue is resolved.
