Just placed order for a G05, how's the ride on the 22s?

Just placed an order for a loaded G05 x40
Also ordered M sport with the 22's.
For the ones who have it, is the ride worse than the 20 run flats? My wife's concerned about the much thinner sidewalls...

Wish I could but the dealers here all just order stripped out lease specials.

My wife thinks it rides and handles great. It's a lot better than her F15 with 20" non Run flats.

I've driven both, and it rides nicely. I just didn't want to deal with having two sets, so I stuck with the M 20's. Love the way the 22's look though!

The only downside of the 22s are no AS or bad weather tire choices and possible rim damage on anything less than perfect roads. There is no way getting around such a thin sidewall. Ride doesn’t seem to be a factor with any of the M wheels.

Live in southern CA so a "heavy winter storm" is 3/4" of rain

The rim damage from potholes is a potential issue though. Oh well, I guess we'll just wait and see.

Thanks for the advice!

I’d go for it. In the Noth East, snow and bad weather are a certainty but where you are I would roll the dice and get them. You know the conditions of your roads.

Thank you for not saying 4.0 and typing 40 which is better even while not correct. The 40i will ride fine on 22" wheels which is what I test drove before ordering a 50i on 21"s because they're not run flats.

xdrive40i it is! I'm actually happy that they're "go-flats" as one the first things I did with my 335d is dump the run flats for PSS's
Good to hear that no one so far has complained about punishing ride.

This forum is awesome for pics though. All the 3 dealers within 30 miles of my house did not have any white interior let alone Merino leather examples. So the pics on this forum is what helped us make the decision. The extended leather was also another one we ordered sight unseen... Tried to swing for the B&W audio, but the wife put the foot down on that one....

It's the luck of the draw, but hope you get the Pirelli tires instead of the Conti's. The sidewall looks a lot better, they have rim protectors, and they have a higher treadwear than the Conti's.

The d in xDrive is capitalized. Simply messing with you. Call it what you like, you have a very nice build. The 22" will look great.

Now for the grueling wait.

Good to know, I usually lose on the BMW tire lottery though, my e46 came with the crappy conti's and my E90 came with craptastic bridgestones...

Yes, the GRUELING wait. At least we don't have to wait for it to cross the Atlantic and Panama canal....

The 22s ride better than the 20s on my F15. I have air suspension though.

FWIW, I got the continentals. I'm good with them because replacements are cheaper than the Pirellis...and tread wear ratings aren't comparable for different manufacturers.

I agree, rides great on 22s, though I was surprise as I expected a harsher ride.

are the 22s run flats? I noticed on mine with run flat 21s i hear more road noise then the q7 with contis non run flat. never had run flats so dont know if they contribute to more road noise.

22s are not runs flats and came with performance tires so the option included a spare under the cargo area.

I'm in Canada and mine came with a flat tire repair kit (gel/foam) and the air compressor in the trunk. No spare.

The 22s ride quite nicely for the size of the sidewalls, and I'm really glad I ticked the option box. Plus, the look of these wheels is simply gorgeous and really fills out the wheel wells.
