Locking Car but accessories stay powered and battery dead
Not sure why this started, but now as of the last two days, I lock the car, key fobs are FAR AWAY from car, but it seems the battery is dead in the morning, and I have to jump the car.
I can't lose the car to the dealership yet, but I seemed to have figured out that the interior accessories don't go to 'sleep' like the car normally does when it's locked, and thus that's my theory as to what is draining the battery. But I can't figure out if there's a fix I can do myself without the dealership. |

WHen shutting down, the computer sends messages out the CANBUS to tell them to go to sleep. IF for some reason those messages don't get to one or more modules, they'll effectively stay on, and that can discharge the 12vdc battery.
YOu might try a idrive reset, but other than that, I'm not sure there's much else you can do as it likely would take more diagnostic tools to figure out what's going on. Few things on the vehicle are actually switched by the switches in the car...those switches send a message to a computer via a small circuit, and the computer directs things to happen. |

You could disconnect the positive lead from the battery for a few hours so all computers are forced to off and need a complete new boot when connecting again. Could be a process being stuck or something.

I put it in my library just for all future rest advises. And that will be a lot. Maybe we should even thinking a short name for the procedure. |

I have my Dash Cam hard wired and in 'parking mode' with the vehicle off. My car is only used on weekends (its a second car) and it always starts straight away.... Personally Id try the iDrive reboot first |

If there's a problem with the 12vdc battery, all sorts of weird things can happen. It could be from an excessive load during shutdown, or it could be a bad battery. Note, even AGM batteries don't like to be deep discharged all that often, but they're much better at it than a conventional wet cell one.
The dealers can perform a test to see what the actual battery load is when the vehicle is supposedly 'off'. Off on modern vehicles is sort of a misnomer...there are a bunch of things that are sitting in low-current standby mode and if locked, the alarm system is on constantly. The vehicle is also 'ready' to accept the fob buttons or in the case of comfort access, having the fob near by enough. |

I tried both 'fixes' today, neither seemed to work sadly.
Disconnected the positive terminal to the battery in the trunk, but the radio still worked, and the car still started (after driving 45 mins to work). then disconnected the positive terminal cable to the right of the battery, and that killed all electronics. Left it like that for 10 mins and reconnected, locked the car and left it. Came out after work in the evening, and saw the BlackVue camera was still recording (normally it shuts off after 5 mins), so that's how I know the electronics are still running. |

Wild idea: any chance your keycard is sitting on the charge/card reader tray?

So aside from normal car electronics, a dashcam is running? Possibly a problem there per @doctorttt?

We can help if you let us know which fuse you used to connect the dashcam (both front and back), this is a common issue. Picture and/or video will be better.
Did the dealer solve your other water leaking problem?
