use an OBD reader with wifi. connect to the OBD wifi with your phone. use Bimmerlink app to open or close the valve/flap.

now you need to get down and unplug the wire after the flap opens. because apparently the flap closes automatically after you turn off the car and back on if the wire is still connected.

i tested this on F15 and pretty sure its the same across the board

Unfortunately, I am stumped as to how to get the valve to open, so that I can unplug the servo wire. I even went out and bought an endoscope to put in the exhaust pipe so I can actually see the flap. I haven’t hit the break in period yet, but even up to 4000 RPM, the flap stays closed. Once I hit 1200 miles I will try again and bring the motor close to redline.

I’m not thrilled about the idea of removing a clip (described above), as I’m sure it would be very difficult to put back in if needed.

If anyone has any other ideas please share.

Anyone complete this yet with the G05 40? I would be interested in learning how much the M Sport exhaust is. I know I didn't opt for the 5.0 motor, however, I would like to hear a nice rumble like on my M2.

I used a device on my f15 that plugged into the module in the exhaust down under and came with a remote to open and close the valve. i wonder if I could use it on the g05 ?? my car is coming this week soo excited but i need some growl and blurbs.

Is there no MPE for the G05 ?

No to both, we cannot code the car yet

Its didnt require coding i will take a pic and post when i get a chance. Basically it fooled the exhaust into thinking its over 4000 rpms and opens the valves.

Or you can open them and pull the control wire. I can't really hear my 50i anyways thanks to the acoustic glass.

I know compatible it came out way before the G05 but worth a shot i have a hunch the underlying code is still the same from F15 to G05.

On the 50i , you select Sport Plus then rev to 4K rpm and shut the engine off. The flaps remain open after doing so and you simply unplug the servos.

Any thoughts on the 40i, how to get it to stay open to unplug?

Retro fit MPE?

Just wondering...can the OEM M Performance muffler from the F15 X5 be made to work in the current G05 without much hassle (reposition hangers and reuse G05 tips)? That MPE muffler sound is a "known" with the F15, has no control flaps, and about $1000 new. I can't help but think it'll sound as good if not better. Opinions?
