I've been through a few recalls and some service campaigns that have restricted use of my BMWs. Personally, I've not felt there was an issue with trust about them getting things right. Sometimes, it took awhile.
BMW fares pretty decent in the reliability reports between brands. Tesla had been averaging about $8200/car in warranty work where the industry average is closer to $250...people still buy Teslas. A lot of what you experience is based on your dealer. Just like anywhere, some are better than others. |

Advisories. 1. you do coding in a new car or you buy second hand and previous owner has done any coding if your car develops faults you are goosed. 2. COVID is causing workshop and parts delays and COVID is here to stay for 1-2 years so wait and delays for parts and labour. |

I'm trying to get an allocation for a Porsche Macan GTS, but they're scarce - also may get the M50i

It's one thing for BMW to *want* to replace parts/conduct repairs, it's another thing for BMW to *have* the parts and labor to do it; and COVID only exacerbates those problems. And BMW's relatively pokey communications response to these recalls is not reassuring me about their urgency or efficiency. |

The German Handelsblatt wrote an article on the recall of Ford PHEVs. Ford decided to replace all batteries!!! They do not want to take any risk. Ford batteries were also produced by Samsung and reported to have "impurities". Same supplier and same problem as with BMW batteries.

At the end of the day, replacing all (potentially) affected batteries is the only prudent solution. Unless the software can rule out with absolute certainty that a particular unit is faulty. And this is from what I've gathered so far, technically not possible. I'm glad to be corrected, but afaik the software test can give you a pretty good indication, maybe even a high probability, that one particular battery in question might be ok. However, I wouldn't want to litigate based on high probably rather than absolute certainty and I guess BMW won't either.

If the batteries are not replaced, I feel sorry for the folks that park indoors for charging, the other issue with BMW, the fact that not bothering to tell us what’s going on, would they ever be clean about what they going to do to fix this, once the car delivered, I am asking the dealer to add extinguisher just in case.

With its clearcut decision, Ford has changed the game and left very little reason for BMW to pursue the ill -fated idea of software testing. BMW clients deserve equal treatment.

In the meantime they don’t seem to care since battery change has not started for any of the recalled cars while they keep on delivering new cars without issues... what a sh...y experience.

As planned, i got the new 45e deliverd on friday. The dealer told me they got a lot of phonecalls from clients asking to advance their delivery regarding the upcoming lockdown.
I’m happy to have the car delivered just before the lockdown and it is not affected by the batteryproblems. I empathize with people who are less lucky. |

Anyone remembers where to find the site in the UK to check if there is a recall on a vehicle? Was it an UK gouvernement site or BMW.
Might be useful fir those having a recall for the front axle? |

the list goes to the dealers first. It takes a while to get to the websites. so no recall shown on bmw or govt websites doesn't mean no recalls 100%. Check with your dealership.

The database reflects the same information the dealers have access to. However, not being affected by a recall today does not guarantee you won't be affected by another recall tomorrow.
