Okay, I think maybe it is the wording or at least my understanding of it. I was in that thread and took his post to mean that it starts to make the lane change quickly not that it makes it quickly once it starts. The first would go back to how the lane change use to work previous to 07/2019.xx where you would hit the turn signal and there was a delay before it made the change.

I wonder if it all goes back to driving stye since I, or my passengers when showing off the feature, never noticed anything unusual with the lane change or if there are actual differences in how it is working in different vehicles.

While I was out I really paid attention. to how the lane change was working and I just am not experiencing what is being described. It seems very smooth and gentle when making the change. Not sure if you can judge yours against mine but I made a video of mine working.

I'm pretty sure they smoothed it. I do remember the auto lane change back in late 2018 and early 2019 being far less smooth. The car would (as described upthread) literally drive over into the next lane... very unnatural feeling. I also like how they changed it so you don't have to hold the signal stalk for 1-2 seconds before it initiated the lane change.

That is what I thought at first also but the posters above are running fairly current software and the ALC changes were done in 07/2019.xx.

I have also done them in Eco Pro, Adaptive, Comfort and Sport and they seem to be the same.

Yes that was me and I ment to say that the change between the lanes it self was quite sporty. I was in 07/2019. I will test how it is in 03/2020 didn't have the time to test yet.

Agreed not sure why silver is available in an X3 but not the X5?

The theory is/was because the driving assistance systems will not work correctly on the X5 with certain metallic colors. That would be why Sunstone metallic was offered last year but you could not order the driver assistance systems with it. Dealers, BMW reps and supposedly an article all gave out that information but who knows if it is true.
