we only have a temp on the back when we take delivery. I just have them mail me the plates. I did get a plastic front plate mount with the car so it seems like one could simply use some doublesided tape to hold that bracket on and no one would no any difference. The plate mounts to the bracket but the screws do not go through the bumper.

Don't worry. From what I read, on all new vehicles (except m/c's), FL in the future will require front plates and annual emission inspections.

So glad we picked up our X5 in November! No front plate and no bumper holes! We are in CA and I can’t stand front plates on cars. Never had one! Never had a ticket for not having one!

Drilled holes in the bumper are the work of the devil! Haha...ok 1st world problems I guess.

Oh yes the land of fruits and nuts. If it weren’t for my current job that pays about 2x what I could get in TX we’d already be out of here lol. Plus we already have family in New Braunfels...

If they are a state inspection station and your state requires a front plate then what they're saying is true because their license is on the line. The easiest way to go around this is zip tie the plate to the lower grill. Drive home and remove. Dealer risks nothing, you get the look you want once removed. Win/Win for all parties.

2x there is like translates to half what you'd make where after taxes considering the median home price in Cali is North of $500k and here it's ~$200k not counting the lack of state income tax I'd say making 1/2 here is better.

Not sure where you read that, but we had emissions testing in the 90's and it was determined to be an enormous waste of money and burden on the taxpayers. I don't see it happening with the republican controlled legislature (in power for the last 20 years). Florida is still a red state contrary to what CNN wants you to think.

I just took delivery of my 2019 X5 last week in California with no front plates. I was okay with having the bracket installed, but the dealer recommended leaving it off. My salesperson called a friend, who is a police officer, who said they generally don't enforce the front plate. The dealer put the temp sticker with tape in the glove box, and the front plate bracket in the back.

I think it depends on the police officer. I'm still on the fence about this, and may end up installing the front plate when it arrives.

Pretty much the case.

I felt the dealer tried to pay me back with hard time for complaints I had about the mistakes they made to order my car, which delayed at least a week.
