Sounds like BMW's situation is changing week by week. Good thing my X5 is on a truck heading north with all the options I ordered according the VIN lookup. I wish they would hurry up with that black grill.

This X5 seems to have the hex pattern without laser lights or the blue insert. Can anyone confirm?

Well it does say "BMW Laser" on the side of the headlight...

Most likely MT photoshopped the blue color out of the picture. Maybe they thought it looked better that way...

For those still concerned about laser light delays, cancellations, production stoppage, etc, I can report that my X5 with laser lights ordered on 3/5 has made it all the way through final assembly without any word or indication that my build did not include laser lights. I'm assuming I would have heard if there was a problem. Mine is a US car.

Just noticed the BMW Laser text. Thank you.

Had no idea MT would do things like that.

So we now officially have a stop production in Canada. I ordered on Friday, and saw in the ordering system the option of a $1K credit to delete the laser lights from packages that included them. My CA had confirmed this was an option only, the lights were still available. My car went to 112 yesterday, VIN was produced this morning, and this afternoon I got an email saying that BMW Canada had just informed my dealer of the stop production. $1K credit still applies, but no option to get the lights. I'm a bit pissed to be honest, given that they clearly knew this was an emerging problem. Not sure what alternative I have, but thinking it over tonight.

^ I can see how that can be discouraging. Maybe if you don't need the new one right away you can just hold off until they are available again. Good luck and let us know how things turn out.

BMW is making a mess of this. In my opinion you should be notified at the time of ordering that these options won't be available. I think it's wrong to find out after the fact.

Update: after politely expressing my displeasure to my SA, reminding him that we had specifically discussed availability of the laser lights prior to ordering, he went back to his Manager and BMW Canada. By noon today I had a new build slot, about 2 weeks further out but with laser lights AND massaging seats, which I had failed to add the first time. Perfect resolution. Still feels like a bit of gong show generally, BMW Canada needs to decide whether they have enough laser lights to continue accepting orders or not.

My dealer in Toronto also confirmed today that my order will include laser lights and leatherette dashboard. Was also able to change my trim from fineline wood to poplar wood!

My car went 112 on Monday, got the VIN, and now hit 150 still with the laser lights. Dealer didn't receive any word from BMW about the laser lights being dropped out.

Sounds positive. They're clearly dealing with a shortage, but still have the ability to include them. I'm just waiting for my new build slot. Good luck!

I really dislike the little half moon DRL's with the standard LED headlights. Does not even look like a BMW. I think the game here is simple. Corporate figures if you want the better DRL's you'll have to pony up for the Lasers. Nothing but greed.

it's a BMW not a Toyota. BMW has changed the shape of them before. Look at the M2C with regular halogens can full led as seen below

I "think" for our M2 they wanted $1,900. I think it's just another way to squeeze more money out of us. I opted for the M Performance Exhaust instead!

$1000 is all laser lights cost as a standalone so that's not bad considering each light is $6k a piece
