275/40/22 winter tires

In the states I can’t see that pirelli sells a 315/35/22 winter tire. Will I be fine doing 275s all around even though the rims are staggered? The wheel/tire calculators seem to say so.

You will be fine with the 275-40-22 all around for x5, x6, and x7

I would recommend going with 285/40/22 and 325/35/22 if you want to keep the stock 22' rims and want to keep the dimensions as close to stock as possible.

a 325 tire on rear requires a rim width range 11"-13". If you are running the stock 22" wheels they are only 10.5" wide so 315 would be max. You can run up to a 285 on the front wheels though.

Thank you for the heads up. What are the risks of running a 325 on a 10.5 rim?

275/40/22 winter tires

Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe cornering would be the primary concern. Think about it: the tire is wider than the rim and you take a sharp corner - I can't imagine that's safe to do; Maybe even could damage the tire or at least make it wear prematurely or unevenly.

FWIW, I stick to a staggered setup even with my winter tires. 275/35/22 up front and 315/30/22 in back and I plow through the snow effortlessly. Quite pleased with my Pirelli Scorpion Winters. I know that narrower tires are technically better in snow but eh...I also know that baked chicken is technically better for me than deep fried

Has anyone fitted 275/40/22 all-season tires to the G05 X5? I'm looking at upgrading my wheels to 22x9.5" and I've found 275/40 to be half the price of 275/35 tires.

Do you have stock alloys?

How does the back alloys look with that tyre size.

Send some pics if you can please!

So sorry I never replied to you. For 3 seasons I used 275-40-22 all around with my the stock wheels. It was perfectly fine.

I actually just returned the x7 off lease and I have the snow tires for sale now. Just the tires.
