In that case I question why they don’t upgrade your options to give you what you want and a little extra for “their supply problem”. You can’t have a car with too many options at this level of vehicle and price point. No one is bargain shopping their options with a $95k vehicle.

We discussed this exact issue on the M2C forum. A vehicle in the showroom that is exactly what you want is far more desirable as you can inspect it for any paint/defect before you have any money on it. If you order, you could still get a damaged car and waist 3 months of your time.
Now you could wait 5 months and not even get all the options you require. It’s not just BMW that manufacturers at this “point of manufacturing parts delivery”. Porsche and others does it as well.

I got also heat pack but witch comfort and massage, ventilation seats. These options are part of the Exclusive pack in Belgium.

For what it's worth.

Ordered mine in feb 2019, it was the second X5 45e order they did in my BMW concession.

When ordering, a delivery of 20 sept 2019 was stated. My sales rep warned me. He found the delivery date unrealistic since production would start in august and transport to EU does take a while.

In the following months, several other dates ranging from oct-2019 to jan-2020 were communicated to me. As mentioned, the dealerships are left in the dark as well.

In the end the car arrived at the dealership on 05-nov-2019. (production date according to VIN: 26-sept-2019)

When ordering I knew I had to wait a long time since the model was not available back then. By now the delivery times should have been normalized. Maybe the model is more popular than expected?

It's very frustrating that in Europe you can't track orders and dealerships are clueless.

Asked dealer about delay, corona etc. Says no info of delays.

I was 50/50 on what to do. Te way that the UK models are specced, the Comfort Plus pack has a whole load of options bundles together and the ventilated seats were not a reason I chose that pack. I also did not want to start a build process again and wait another 4-5 months to get a car. The car is also a business lease, so I am not worried about future resale or value.

So just had the meeting with my dealer. I was expecting delivery late April, this has now moved to June.

He didn't know why it had moved, when asked if he thinks it will be delayed further he answer wasn't very encouraging.

When is your production week?

It's sad that they don't know anything. Promises and when the deal is made they don't know anything.

I spoke to the Sales manager today at Sytner BMW who confirmed October for my 45e which was ordered 4 weeks ago.

It seems like there's a problem/delay with hybrid models. 330e 745e also having similar delays.

Basically nothing they can do and I'm now left with the dilemma of cancelling the order or waiting 9 MONTHS. My problem with this the G05 model will then be heading towards 18 months old and no doubt a facelift version will appear

9 Month build time for X5 45e WTF

The wait is long but worth it. I had to wait 7 months. I informed about a Volvo XC90 2 years ago and also 9 months waiting. With Audi same thing. Plug in hybrids seem to be quite popular and I think the high voltage battery is the limiting factor.

This is my impression, too. Many hybrids have more than one year wait, even premium cars with low sales volumes. I am sure there is 'reasonable' supply chain management competence on traditional components but batteries are just too hard to manufacture, partly due to raw material sourcing issues.

I have an 7-8 month wait in the US on a Cayenne E Hybrid. The 45e hasn't been released here and there is no real communication on when it will be.

Our order was in last month, delivery expected for September if lucky August, I believe big part of the delay is down to batteries production, Jag I believe stopped taking orders due to demand of batteries being high .. on the positive side, a later car may have few bugs fixed since all new models are subject to issues only discovered once on the cars are tested in the real world. from our past experience we will never order a new model just out and always wait few months min 6 months ...

Spoke with a Jag dealer here in the UK today, they are due to deliver 9 iPace this month, all delayed till June due to battery delays from China. Anyone know where BMW source their batteries from?

Ordered my 45e in October and due delivery next week. Car is due in to Southampton tomorrow so should be with dealer by the weekend. I'm now in a quandry as to push for delaying them registering the car for another couple of weeks so it meets the 6th April tax change for BIK rates. Have waited 6 months, another couple wont hurt .... but really want the car! I'll also be pissed if it turns up missing options as I've spec'd it with pretty much everything.
