Bmw x3m facelift 2021 vs x5 m50i

I will change my x3 m40 next June. I mean x3 interior will be changing in 2021.
I have two alternatives those are x3m competition (v6,503hp)and x5 m50i(v8,523hp).
Is anyone can give me some suggestions?

X5 a lot more upscale, significantly better ride and massive torque with the V8TT.

I'm in the same boat. Also giving some thought to the M550i. I've driven the X3M Comp a couple of times, drove an X5 M50i with Dynamic Handling Package briefly and an X5 M50i without it for a bit longer. My wife has an X7 40i MSport for whatever that's worth.

Between the X3M Comp and X5 M50i, the X3M is quicker at full tilt (based on what I have read) but - and this is based on direct experience - the X5 feels quicker (and likely is quicker) in just about every everyday situation on account of its considerable low end torque advantage.

Handling - no comparison. The X5 M50i, even with the DHP, can only dream of keeping up with an X3M. In addition, the X5 has this long, wide, high hood that makes it difficult to place the wheels in some everyday situations (like maneuvering in a parking lot).

Luxury - no comparison. The X3M can only dream of keeping up with the X5 here. Interior is a step up in the X5 (though the X3M is nice). The ride quality in the X3M is definitely firm. Some say too stiff. I think it's ok but what I find not ok is the noise. Road noise is high and the noise from the suspension is downright obnoxious. The X5 suffers from none of these issues.

X3M also has some sort of throttle delay that would take some getting used to (which is not present in the X5).

Yes but be sure you don't care about interior finish and quality.

Its that age "old smaller, better handling, less refined, less comfortable car" vs "bigger, comfier, more refined, less sporty car" comparison.

Its always the same - There is no objective winner, it just comes down to what YOU want.

Both are good cars but serve different markets. If handling and sportiness is your priority get the X3M, if comfort, practicality, quality and refinement are your priority, get the X5 M50i. IMO, Its that simple.

There is not much you can group-source in that decision. Just don't kid yourself that an X5m50i will ever handle like an X3m, or that an X3m will ever be as comfortable a place to do a 1000 mile road trip as an X5.

Go with one and run with it. Personally, I’d go for the X5 since it’s bigger and more comfortable in my opinion. One minute, you can be riding on clouds listening to elevators music, then the next...taking a backroad curve at 60mph listening to Metallica. The X3M is a cool, slick vehicle...but not sure how quick until that novelty wears off. I always look at it this way...I can go fast in any car, relatively speaking, but I can’t be comfortable in every car.

If I get kicked out of the house, I want to make sure I can sleep in my car comfortably...X5 all day. Don’t look back!

I looked at both. Coming out of an M4 the X3M felt the more natural fit (need a car that can haul my dogs around) and the deals last year in the UK were exceptional. However I felt that despite the performance the car overall left me feeling cold. It isn’t a patch on an equivalent Macan GTS.

I had an RRS on extended loan over Christmas and that was pathetic. So lethargic and wallowing but I did like the size and luxury. That’s what swung it for the M50i; my dealer gave me the M50d for the weekend and it drove like a performance saloon. Perfect blend of power, luxury and the ability to switch between being driven hard and wafting along on the motorway munching miles.

I was never going to order a diesel because I don’t do enough miles to warrant the ever growing tax penalty here in the UK so chanced it on the M50i without even driving one (hardly any at dealers) and have it arriving in May.

I assume you meant Inline 6 vs V6. There are no V6's in the BMW lineup

I looked at both and ended up going with the M50i.

I do a lot of city driving in fairly heavy traffic. I average something like 17mph on a 50 minute trip to work. My wife also already has an X3. So you can already sort of understand why I went the route I did.

My 2 cents after driving it for a couple of weeks:
Watch out for that Idrive 7, a bit buggy.
V8 engine sounds great but a significant a jump up in fuel use over my M3.
Cabin is very quiet.

If I had to choose again, I would make the same choice. The step up in luxury between the 2 cars is just worth the difference in handling, size and weight.
