Delivery question

My car showed as production started on 3/18. I just spoke to the sales manager and he said that the car is due to be complete 4/1. This means I may make it before the shutdown.
Does this seem possible or not?

Spent time at my dealership today going over my options for my order.

Based in what your saying him should be ok as long as it’s shipped before the factory closes.

Isn’t the shutdown 4/3?

I guess if your car gets completed a couple of days ahead of schedule, there’s a chance it’ll get out to your dealer. I have no idea if cars being completed early is a thing or not though.

Mine is due to be completed 4/1, and while I’m hoping it gets out of the factory and onto a carrier before the factory closes, I’m assuming it will be delayed. It seems like a few days is needed before production finishing and the car being loaded for transport, so I’m not getting my hopes up.

some weird update in myBMW...my build moved today to scheduled and then back to order received. I don't expect to see it till easily June (based in CA - had several Individual parts) or later given some of the feedback people are mentioning about builds getting pushed out 10 weeks. Starts to make me wonder if just a few weeks longer I would benefit from a MY2021.

Unfortunately, my feeling is the same as yours. Keep your fingers crossed.

Good for you guys that work there.

Question - trying to imagine how it works with a factory shut down. What happens to the cars in the middle of assembly or will they shut it down after the last car is complete?

Typically they will run the line to empty. This also allows for other crews to come in and perform large scale PM's and other fixes. Contrary to what a shut down means, Typically it doesn't mean there is no one in the plant just the none "essential". But for this COVID case I'd be interested to hear what happens from a Tech or Engineer on site.

Yes it is hall 50. And yes originally it was 04/03 but due to supplier issues in several states and out of country they have to shut down sooner then anticipated.

My X5 45e would go in production next week. So that's not going to happen?

I'm just a production associate so I don't know much about orders and how that works but I can probably guarantee it ain't happening next week . It's probably gonna be delayed .

Well, that would be no surprise. Ordered in July last year so a few weeks or months longer...
Hopefully the car gets produced second half of April then.

So production starts 04/13 and not 04/19?

Yes sir it's supposed to start April 13th . But we shall see . We're supposed to call the plant status line on the 12th to see if there definitely starting the 13th . But more then likely we will start the 13th

BMW closes its plants in Europe at least until April 19th. Doesn't Spartanburg get parts from those Europan factories?

Not all cars were cleared out this time but about six or so assembly lines in hall 50 were cleared out . The rest get covers put over them to ensure they do t get dusty

So they don't forget some parts?

How is the situation in SC? If I look at the map of the Johns Hopkins website I can't understand why Trump hasn't invoked quarantaine in certain states or cities for a few weeks.
