You can’t add up the total of gas cars and compare it to a company that just sells EVs. Tesla is still the leader of the EV market and will likely continue to do so for a long while.

Just responding to the comment which didn’t stipulate EVs only.

Not hard to look good in percentages when you're only selling 300 cars per quarter from what, 600 dealers? And those were mostly 2022 models. What year is this???

Toyota sells 7x more than Tesla. So I guess your point is, more bland = more sales?

No. They've moved onto pricing is reflecting market inflation pressures.

That should be reflected on MSRP, not on top of it

Wonder how many more they would've sold if the vehicles were more available. Been waiting for M3 allocation for 4 months. X7 with B&W 5-6 months from order currently. Also have a friend who has been in line for an i4 for almost a year now. Brutal. I understand the price increases because they are not struggling to sell!

Well. To your point, I absolutely love my G82 M4 competition and I absolutely hate the front grill. I think one can hate the front of the car and still think it’s a great car.

I hope Bmw will suck big time in sales and will return to creating fantastically looking fun to drive vehicles that don’t pretend to be something they aren’t.

I wish BMW the best and glad to see them have success in these times. Unfortunately, there's not a single model, current or future, that I'd be interested in. Seems they are shifting their entire target market to a different buyer profile, and that sure ain't my 38 year old self. And it doesn't seem like many on this forum are in their sights either.

About 11 years ago if I remember correctly, BMW said that their surveys showed that people did NOT like to feel the road. Since then (the F30), BMW has gone away from being the Ultimate Driving Machine and more towards .... well... I don't know what to call it. And as much as their front end design language is hated by the masses, and their vehicles don't drive like they used to, their sales keep going up. Ugh.

And the X2 sales. Ouch. Did they discontinue that thing?

They stopped producing the X2 awhile ago. A all new redesign for 2024 is due out shortly.

I do, too! But BMW makes them impossible to get and ships 2022 models in March of 2023. And why not a stick?

But what I was responding to was the simple math problem of how many units it takes to cause a 40% fluctuation when you're only selling 300 cars per quarter! In this example it's 119, or less than 1/3 of a car per dealership.

Yeah, but WHAT IF the next 2 years grow at 43% as well? Then we're at 800 a quarter!!

The 2022's were in some cases delayed for whatever reason (some stop-ship for charging pad / bmw smart key) ... I took delivery of a 2022 in January.

My dealer has 2 on the lot right now, so they are available. I bought mine off the showroom floor, it had been there for 6 weeks.

The manual is coming - at least we have it on good faith rumors (or slightly more than rumors) to launch March 2024... we'll see.

Honestly the car is a diamond - more people should seriously consider it - it's a bottoms-up designed platform that feels more like BMW's used to be 10 or 20 years ago - lightweight, supple, fun, and a brilliant application of the B58 engine.

It is the one hidden gem in the current lineup. I plan on securing one in a few years as a weekender in manual of course before production ends.

Go backward in time with your logic and what were they selling two-years ago? The math gets you to double-digit sales per quarter in only three-years. The reason for recent sales number are dealers will give away a $60k two-seater that is already last-year's model. If you want one, now's the time. It would be interesting to see the sales numbers versus days-supply numbers. We had four at one time and still have one. And that's at a very small store! To start this year BMW sent us eight 4-series convertibles. You can bet anyone with a heartbeat expressing interest in one got a heck of a great deal. January in Virginia is convertible weather? Come on BMW!

Never understood how they can crank out 4-series convertibles, 8-series Gran Coupes, but can't seem to supply more than one M3 for my backlog of orders. Would the M3 and M4 fail if they were readily available? More desirable when in short supply?

The sales figures of Z4 for US only were 279 for Q1 2022 and 195 for Q1 2021 then q1 2020 was 625 and Q1 2019 was 197.

Full year 2020 to 2021 was flat for US Z4 sales. 2022 saw a 33% decline. My guess is the jump in Q1 23 was a supply chain hiccup in Q4.

Production of M is limited and demand is through the roof. You can get lucky and pick one up quickly if someone bails on their delivery and you have a great relationship with a dealer. That’s what happened for me. Deposit July, delivery early September.

Or could be the fact that more and more people would rather choose comfort over road feel then again i aint the biggest fan of the new steering feel in newer cars i rather much have the feel so you know exactly where the car is on the road.

But regarding the design and "hated by the masses" doubtful this more of a you thinking then the masses sense the masses seems to like the new design language more then the old. Again design is subjective so but don't speak for the "Masses" sense anytime anyone makes a claim like that it is in 90% of the time wrong just as 90% of statistics are made up on the spot.

Their vehicles drive better than they used to. I had BMWs since 2008, the best ones are the ones I drove most recently.
Also, they're way more reliable and better built than they used to.
Also, they're so much more ahead of the competition, the gap is bigger than ever in their history. It's like M2, M3, M5 don't even have a real competition anymore.
And their designs are mostly hated by the Internet mob. This is a a bias that occurs when your surroundings don't represent the masses: you believe your circles are the masses. They're not.

BMW's best era is now, that's why their sales are higher than ever.
