CarPlay issue

I just picked up my X5 45e and setup CarPlay. Today i took my first long drive and noticed while i was driving none of my notifications (mail, news, Twitter, sports, Amazon, etc) on my iPhone made my phone or watch vibrate or and alert to an incoming notification. Text messages notifications came through CarPlay. After i reached my destination i woke up my iPhone only to see 20+ notifications on my lock screen that i was not alerted to. Both my phone and watch were not on silent and no do not disturb settings were on either on CarPlay or my phone. Does anyone else experience this? Is this a safety feature from Apple so we are not distracted while driving?

This is normal. Notifications are limited (text messages, navigation prompts, calendar events, etc.) while using CarPlay. I assume it's for safe driving to avoid distractions.

Yes, that’s on purpose. I personally *love* this feature.
