The Tesla with the airstream was pretty comical. Probably goes great for like 50 miles.

The bolt in link trick was cool.

One note if you have a friction bar setup do not add grease to the friction bars.

I would never personally bias the weight to the front like he did, but that’s my opinion.

I also run a torsion hitch on my WD and that removes 90% of the bounce transferred to the vehicle, it was an amazing upgrade. It’s made by Gen-Y.

I'm thinking about visiting Canam-RV (they have tons of towing experience - they apparently helped Porsche dial in / rate their SUVs for North America IIRC). Anyways, we've been chatting over email about a hitch setup for my x5mc.

Has anyone installed a non stealth hitch? With reinforcement? There's a chance I might need to cut the bumper or diffuser. Curious if anyone has done that. Their recommended towing equipment definitely makes me feel confident in towing up to 7000 lbs.. but I'm worried about a) cutting and b) reinforcement welding.. I wouldn't be the first, but perhaps the first x5m?!

I was sitting in traffic behind a G05 with a towing package. I know that most of this thread is about stealth hitches. I'm thinking of installing a reinforced hitch. Does any one know if the OEM G05 diffuser (the part in the middle of the rear bumper) is interchangeable between F95 and G05? The diffuser would give a nice clean footprint for my hitch..

MrItaly, could you post some pics of what was cut on your rear bumper/gravel guard to install the stealth hitch?

How has towing been? Any issues using the rack receiver?

^^^ I was just thinking about your setup and wondering the same thing. I DO NOT want to jinx you, but the stealth hitch support dude I spoke to about this setup (since I wanted to replicate it), responded with alarm and implied it was only a matter of time before failure. Apparently the receiver hitch has too much back and forth play and that could (will?) lead to a failure. Apparently the ball hitch has less play and won’t come undone.

I can see your points about them playing it safe, but part of me worries about this setup. Can you update us on how it’s been? How many (hopefully) successful miles under your setup?

Aside from this, I noticed the X7 is rated for a WDH. Is there a huge difference in the chassis, or did bmw just not bother rating the G05s for WDH use? (I wonder if this changed on the LCIs…)
