The initial jump from the G wagon is incredible as it's basically a brick with a big engine.
Love an X5M, but if they were the same money, I'd buy the G63 (too bad Gs are going for 150k OVER sticker). |

Still nice to see a status symbol such as the G wagon such an icon, it is very impressive to see it be able to take a performance vehicle such as the X5M to 30 or 40 miles an hour. Lol.
OK I kid, it's still impressive though not overly impressive the cost $300,000 as the market has pushed them to. Again though status symbol but I get so many compliments on the X5M I don't think I'd trade it.

You can see the taillights go off first in the G Wagen. Either the G Wagen jumped the start or the X5 had a horrible start. You at least need a starter like Carwow or go to a real track.
This YouTuber sounds like guys my 11 year old son listens to, screaming as loud as they can for what is a pretty boring race. Yes, they are fast SUVs, but it's 2 automatics with AWD and you just stomp the gas. They stretch it out to make 10 minute videos for an 11 second race. |

The guy in the G needs to calm down on his Mat Watson impression, could barely make it two minutes watching him.

Our best friends have a g wagon 2019 and honestly I am not impressed. Feels cheap relative to our x5m. Not any specific thing it just doesn't feel special relative to other mb suvs

My buddy got the new G and let me drive it. It's insane. And I'm not referring to straight line speed. Feels so much different than a refined X5M that I don't think it's a good comparison.
My thoughts when driving: Feels like a getaway vehicle in a heist that can go from pavement to sand to mud and take massive amount of gunfire and direct hits from other vehicles. I felt like I could veer into an empty building and crash right through it and come out of the other side unscathed. Ok maybe I've seen too many movies but that's what it felt like in the G. The feeling and experience is what a lot of us are after and this thing delivers.

Very cool. Those G wagens are no joke. Crazy resale too. Excellent choice used.

I own both ... a 2021 G63 and a 2022 X5M...here in canada you can buy 3 I repeat three x5ms for the price of a new G..the G has a ride that cannot be replicated (the only one that can come close surprisingly would be JGC SRT)..tech wise the x5m is just far superior...

That was weird. They go on and on about how rapid the merc is. The merc got the jump on both dig races and lost by bus lengths. In the roll race the merc lost by bus lengths. And then more praise about how rapid the merc is.

If you watch this on a decent sized screen and you aren't blind you can clearly see the G wagon gets the jump during both drag races. Also not sure why the guy in the G is so adamant about how close the results were, the X5 is very obviously faster both from a dig and a roll and it wasn't that close at all. Seems like he was just trying to make a boring video more exciting. That being said, there's just something about the G wagon that just makes it very desirable. If it were X5MC money I'd have a harder time choosing between the two. Seeing how it's ~$40k more it's not a difficult decision at all (I'll take the X5).

I wouldn't care if the G wagen was half the price of the X5M, I still wouldn't want the thing. Hideous looking vehicle. |

I think if you could get a G wagon at retail, you'd be all but brain dead to not pick it over the X5M, based completely on resale.
You can buy a G63, drive it like crazy for a year or two, and sell it for 50k over what you paid. Nothing else outside of a hypercar does that, with maybe a 911 coming close. |

I think my buddy paid a little over $100K for his G63 a few years ago. It was maybe 1-2 years used, so probably a 2015-2016 model. It was his wife's car and he only kept it like 2 years. Maybe it's just the off-road segment? Broncos are going for $80K, and living in FL, 99% are not doing any serious off-reading that couldn't be done in an X5. |
