So what is the actual color of the 808M wheels? Are they silver and black or ?

Are these silver and the inner parts black? Or is that inner part gray?

I am wondering how easy it would be to paint these back to stock if I were to paint them all black now (on a lease)......specifically the front reflective silver parts.

Are you worried about them being black upon lease return?

Yes, I feel BMW has hammered down on little stuff like this.....?

I got away with this several years ago (painting stock wheels black) and had no issues.....but they gave me sh*t a few weeks ago for having summer tires on my M5 when I did the pre-lease inspection.....and I never thought they would say a word about that (I had all-seasons on).

Isn't that just a cheap low-quality alternative, though, and not something you want on a car like this (or maybe they've improved the process....)?

You can turn your car in with painted wheels as long as they are the ones that came with the car. I've done it on my last two leases and no charge.

How long ago was this? I mean, in the last 2 years or ?

The innards are black as standard, and the faces are diamond cut (i.e. bare metal with lacquer on top).

You can get them painted/powder coated black now, and you would have to get them re-diamond cut to restore them back to OEM look. Any decent wheel refurbisher can do both.

I can't comment on cost for you as I'm in the UK, but painting black would cost about £400-500, and diamond cutting would cost about £500-£600 here. If you were happy with a less than perfect job you could reduce those prices by about £100.

Its about 100-150 a wheel to powder coat depending on where you are in the US. This is the best solution. You will be without your vehicle for several days.

These are literally the worse wheels ever to detail! The little triangle and the lip behind all the spokes makes it very difficult to get all the dirt out.

I did Autoflex liquid wrap on mine, totally changed the look of these wheels - hated them before, love them now. Its durable and wont peel like plasti-dip but shines like paint. I can peel them when I turn it in.

$450 - at first I thought it was a little spendy for just wrapping them, but they have a 2k clear coat and a year later then still shine like new paint and… it’s removable.

They look good, do the tires have to be removed to wrap them??
