So I did a software update yesterday on my 2023 540i and noticed this morning the Auto Start/Stop (ASS) is functioning again in Comfort. Previously I had it disabled using BimmerCode. I tried to recode it this morning but it doesn't deactivate ASS. Not sure if I am doing something wrong or which active/none active setting am I supposed to code with. Any suggestions.

This is an X5 G05 forum but.. .. .. Ah ha! This was mentioned before that in the latest iDrive software, 03/2023.67, BMW changed something that removes the owners ability to code ASS off. Is this the same software level you just upgraded to?

I did the same dumb move by upgrading and lost my ASS memory function that I had programmed via BimmerCode. I'm now on 03/2023.50 and to get around it for now, I set up Sport Individual with Comfort Settings and use that as my default driving mode via BimmerCode. Not quite what I wanted but it works and keeps the asinine ASS function off.

Yeah, just checked and it’s 03/2023.67

I also have a 2023 X5 that I haven’t done the software update yet on it. Guess I’ll never update the software on it.

Hopefully if I take the car in for service I can ask for them not to update the software.

I just had mine in for a state inspection and I know I have a pending update showing on the display so I asked them what their process is when they see that? Would they just perform the update or ask the owner or ignore it. They said they would never update an owners car without first asking them. However, we all know no two dealers are alike so if you don't want it updated and don't want to take the risk you will need to tell them that when you bring it in. From all I've read, updates are not reversible by the common man and I highly doubt a dealer would reverse it.

I am definitely not doing the software update on the X5 then. I have the xDrive40i with the X-line. In Sport Individual it doesn't let you adjust the Shocks to Comfort, and I do know that the base suspension does have adaptive shocks so the only way to get it to ride as soft as possible would be to keep it in comfort. Hence the reason I got it coded to keep ASS off while staying in Comfort.

I disabled the ASS in my 2022 X5M50i after i flashed my transmission with Xhp. But my brother's X3 M40i is 2023 and can't code of ASS because of latest SW so i found a module to install in bdc module and it permanently disable the ASS feature, I'll update after i get it installed.

any updates on this module? I can not code out ASS in my 2021. I prefer driving in sport mode so it's no bother to me. But it's my wife's whip and she prefers Eco Pro for the fuel savings like I give 2 sh$#%@ts about that. Anywho she hates that ASS can not be turned off so I'm trying to find a solution. Car is set to EcoPro Individual on startup.

I have the module but didn't got the time to test on my brother's X3, i ordered for my X5 but i can't install it because on the same wiring another M track module is installed and i don't wanna install 2 modules on same wiring connectors.
Did you tried coding startup mode to sports individual and set all settings to Comfort .

So I happen to figure it out.

BMW X5 M60 2024

Get in the car start it with drivers side door open
Once started leave the car with the keys with you
Without closing the door. Walk away from the car.
You will hear the car horn going on.
Get back in the car. The auto start stop is now disabled.
Enjoy the ride 😁

Works everytime for me.

Get use to it boys, Auto Start/Stop (ASS) is a cheap and effective way for the car companies to get closer to their CAFE requirements.
Don't hate the players, hate the game.

Does this permanently disable ASS or just for that trip until you restart?

Or to disable ASS turn off traction control (leave stability control on) and viola - ASS is disabled.
Simple - it used to be one press of "ASS off" button and now it's two - first
press "stability off", second then press controller. Works like a charm and all settings stay in comfort mode.

When you say press "stability off", you are referring to the Traction Control button, correct? What do you mean by "then press controller"? Is there some sort of message on the display that you need to acknowledge or ? Is this pic correct?

I'm going to try pressing traction control twice when I leave today and report back.

I've been using this for a few months now. On every start up, I push the DSC off button and on my 2024 there are 3 choices that pop up on the screen. It's defaulted to both traction control and DSC on which is the first choice. Below that I select traction control off which is the second choice and that leaves DSC on. DSC off is the third choice. You wouldn't want to turn DSC off unless you're on a race track. Traction control off would allow you to try and rock yourself out of snow or mud. The brakes won't be applied if the car senses the wheel slipping. Even in the rain my rear tires aren't slipping on start with traction control off.

I also tried starting the car with the door open then leave the car with the key until you hear the horn beep twice. Then come back, close the door and leave. It works but not as easy as traction control off. I even tried a faraday bag to put the key in after starting the car with the door open but the car's horn doesn't beep and I get a message that the key is not in the car so the faraday bag is working. ASS is still active after trying that. For some reason it knows when you walk away with the key vs putting the key in a faraday bag.

Yes, correct. First push traction control button (it will default to traction off on next screen) and then press on controller to confirm. That's it - two simple presses.
*** Just make sure not to disable stability control. Also I would keep traction on in bad weather (any assist is helpful).
