Underbody scrapped on 45e, help!
saw plastic pieces hanging and went to dealer, thanks to chicago potholes and high curbs the plastic trim under the battery case is ripped apart and there are some dent and scratches on the metals case above it.
anyone been through this before? would you be cool just replacing the plastic? the car drove fine and no warning message and others, i'm more worried with the process of taking the car apart to replace the metal case and putting it back. appreciate all your feedback. thank you

X5 is very height, I would thin scraping under carriage isn't as common as lower cars. The plastic piece is fine. It is mostly for aerodynamic purpose. Usually, a milder case is the plastic rivet ripped, so plastic panel is hanging down. In this case, you can just buy the plastic rivet and put it back on. If plastic panel itself is ripped, this can also be easily replaced.
What concern me is your said some metal casing is also dented, do you know what is dented? Usually, when engine part is dented, damage or not, you won't get a check engine light. But it isn't easy to get there. Rearward from the plastic underbody cover, there should be a metal piece covering most of the engine. hopefully you dented that metal sheet, than it is not a big concern.
