Hmm... the option, while listed, is grayed out in my CD account. I see a bunch of v8 owners here who got the app. BMW, I see what you're doing there

Edit:

Just checked again and finally saw and purchased it for $25 for 15 months.

Like many, I did have the option to purchase when it was announced, yesterday (Thursday) it was gone, and today (Friday, for those playing along at home) it's back again.
Not sure it's a whole lot of use for me in the New England area since there's not a huge amount of static speed or red light cameras around. I know there's some in Providence, but I don't frequent there often enough, and know where they are.

What would be nice would be the Traffic Light awareness for the automated driving. I think I may pay for that.

I too was able to install it this (Friday 7/3) morning. US$25 for 15 months. Went out to the car and the Terms & Conditions for the App Store refreshed (as well as the app appeared) when I updated.

Will try it out this morning...

I'm wondering the same. The app says you can control where it's shown under Display Settings, but I wasn't able to find where. Currently just showing the camera warnings in the dash but would like it in the HUD

Really? Strange.

I see it under Displays > Heads Up Display > Route Warnings.

Similar to post #22. I am on 7/2019.55

Took a leisurely drive through North Bethesda where there's plenty of speed cameras. In all, the system identified all of the cameras with HUD notifications between 0.25mi to 800ft before the cameras and provided 150-200ft range for you to immediately slow down.

Same on my end. At first I didn’t get any notifications but then they started to show up on the dashboard. There does not appear to be an option to get them on the HUD on my end. Hoping there is a fix for that as the HUD is a lot easier to see.

This is the second time I’m having trouble with BMW Connect, and I’ve only owned the car a month.

It shows up as active and subscribed online, and I can see an order placed in my order history, but it’s not showing up in iDrive or as a subscribed service in the iPhone app. I also never got an email confirmation of my purchase.

I call BMW Connect and they’re utterly useless. I have to call BMW Genius on Monday, which is the biggest Apple ripoff if there ever is one, and from my brief encounter with them, they are anything but.

Nothing in BMW Connect has worked correctly for me from the start. It’s pathetic.

Don't feel bad..... I DID get confirmation.... an email... they charged my credit card..... and the app is showing up on my idrive screen.

It just doesn't work.... at all.

Misery loves company.

You know when I first searched for and downloaded the BMW Connected App, I was surprised to see it rated so low in the iOS App Store (two stars out of five). I thought to myself, surely this is a fluke. No, it’s not, that low rating is well earned and deserved.

Make sure you have the entertainment list set to HUD as well. This will allow the traffic camera information to be displayed in the HUD.

As I've mentioned in earlier post I purchased and verified it in the Apps last Friday. I also got a confirmation email just like others. However I didn't see any red light warning. I didn't pass by any speed light cameras so wasn't expecting to see warning on this.

Today I got another email from ConnectedDrive about the invoice with the same content as Friday's + PDF invoice + additional instruction shown below:

"Once the update completes, we then recommend shutting the vehicle off and allowing a few minutes before restarting the vehicle to check the connection."

Ill have to try again.

I haven't tested this yet but I believe it's one or the other. If you don't have the map view displayed in your instrument panel then it shows up in the HUD. If you have the map displayed in the instrument panel then the camera alert displays in the map screen on the instrument panel.

On my X7 03/2020.31 it shows in my HUD because I have the "Assisted Driving View" displayed in my instrument cluster and I don't get the traffic camera warning in the instrument cluster with that view.

I got side-tracked and didn't get back to looking at this until last night. I logged into Connected Drive and it was available to purchase. While I had some challenges purchasing (I would get an error when trying to purchase via Safari on MacOS, so I tried with Firefox and it worked just fine), I got it purchased.

I went out over lunch and didn't do anything other than pull up Apps and it was installed and ready to go. (I didn't have to refresh anything...) However, I only went a couple of miles and wasn't anywhere that has cameras, so will have to hit a couple of those locations to see if it's actually working!

Alright, I couldn't wait...just went to the car and clicked APPS/Installed Apps/Right click...update services and viola. The Camera Info App added instantly to the list of the apps.

I think you should have a Valid Credit card on file when doing the update from the car to avoid problems. Mine was a Visa card registered to the account but, as mentioned by the others, I feel pity about the Amex users who are having hard time... stay safe!
