Samsung S23 Ultra

Looks like the S23's do not have digital key capability for BMW yet. It will probably come in a software update. I just moved to the S23 today. Everything else including Android Auto works great.

I have it working on my s22 ultra. Looks like it says I can transfer it from the my s22U phone. I will try and let you know hiw it goes.

S22 got an update and I was able to add digital key without issue. the update comes from Samsung and it's the wallet and pass updates that allowed it. Go to Samsung account and updates

Thanks. I update my apps every day. Maybe a region thing. I’m in Canada.

Yeah, maybe a regional thing. I'm also in Canada and S23U says it is unsupported. Even going into Samsung Wallet the only digital key "vendor" to add is SmartThings under the category Door Locks. Maybe each vendor aka car manufacture has to add their own digital key capability for each device and each region. Definitely not ideal.

At least Samsung supports their own products.

Does the S23 Ultra fit in the wireless charging tray (with heated/cooled cup holders)? Does wireless charging work well or does the phone heat too much?

It fits my tray barely. I don't have the built in tray due to shortages when my X5 was ordered. But it does fit in my tray inside the console

Yes it fits in the wireless tray and yes it does charge albeit extremely slowly and yes it gets very hot. Not burning hot but much hotter than any other phone I've ever placed in the wireless charging bay including an S7 Edge, S8+, S10e and Huawei Mate 20 pro. I've since purchased a 45w USB-C car adaptor which I will be using instead.

Does it charge fast? I found this item on aliexpress for half the price. Was thinking to order.

yes its a fast charger built in .. Phone registers as fast charging when I use it.

I exchanged my Galaxy s22 Ultra for a galaxy s23 ultra and I also lost the digital key function, because when I try to configure the device I get an incompatible device message! 2023 X5 Sdrive USA. On the galaxy S22 ultra it worked perfect!

yep we need to wait for the samsung wallet and pass updates that add bmw like last time

Last time it came when both Samsung Pass and Samsung Wallet were updated. Wallet I believe is the storage place for the digital key.

Do you guys not use any cases on your phone, or it just works w/a case? Especially w/one w/a metal ring on the back for a magnetic holder.
