I’m in Europe also, like you I wanted an individual colour, but the dealer said I’d lose extras and my delivery date wouldn’t be in 2023 🙄
Ordered in March and I collect on Tuesday, with my B&W sound in the car |

This should have been the happy day... My Oxford green arrived at the dealer. Still almost 3 months to wait to get the right config. It does look stunning in this colour ( for as long as the car is clean and sunny). On a rainy day ( aka Belgian summer day) it looks very dark.

Finally, with almost 7 months of delay ... the day has come. Unfortunately, the famous Belgian weather does not allow (yet) for a proper photo session. This Oxford green can only be truly appreciated on a sunny day, else it almost looks black. After 10 years of X3, going to X5 is quite noticeable. Size, power, comfort ... all got better. The upgrade to B&W sound ( after the H&K in the X3) is worth for us all the extra money, we can really feel the difference in terms of refinement and quality. We've been driving it for 3 days ( so not enough to get an proper opinion), but here are some of the things that we've noticed immediately: - charging on the regular electric network ( my house is 200 years old, hence not everything up to standards -> no charging box yet), is very very slow. Somehow the car limits all to 10A, so if I plug the car at 8PM, I'm at +-70% next day at lunch time ... need to upgrade my charging infra at home ASAP! - with the car set in Hybrid mode and with a full charge of electrons, on a 60km highway ride, it took 0.9L of petrol (1.6L/100KM) and 20.9 kWh (36.4 kWh/100km). Heated seats ON, outdoor temp. around 8Celsius, normal drive, no racing :-). - even in Hybrid mode, the car is very responsive, we did not feel the need to switch to Sport. - Compared to pre-LCI models ( and my X3), most of the buttons are gone. It feels weird that there's a dedicated button to start the massage function, but then I need to play with the touch screen to enable the heated seats!!! It just does not make sense to me. - I really really miss two things that were available before: Comfort access on ALL doors ( not just the front ones) and the possibility to fold the rear seats from the trunk ( now I have to open the back doors for this ... I'm 1.85 tall but my hands are not that long to reach from the trunk). - Despite being longer than the X3, I find the knee space for the rear passengers smaller than in the X3 ( probably due to the shape of the front seats in the X5). I'll post more photos/impressions as I spend more time with it. So far no regret in waiting so much. |

Oh, what a beautiful car! Congratulations! Wishing you lots and lots of joy driving it (and listening to your favorite music though that B&W system… makes me regret I skimped on it… I’ll see if I can add to my spec still, since I’m on status 047)
Merry Christmas!

For those who did not order yet or can still modify the order: put a mark on the Integral Active Steering!!! I had it on my test-drive car (45e) last year but I did not find it useful at the moment when I placed the order ... silly me!
The X5 is a pachyderm, I see the difference without it. Especially if you live/drive in Europe where all the parking spaces/streets are made for Smarts and Fiat 500. |
