The fuel filler flap cannot eject when I push it down. The car is unlocked. I need to punch it hard to make it open. Does anyone know how to fix it? The same as in the video.

Dealer adjustment. I can see the door is out of alignment in that video. Some G05 X5’s had this issue last year.

I really despise these types of fuel doors. Mine is getting difficult to open as well and I've only put in gas a few times since I'm working from home.

My Audi had the same type of opening mechanism and the hinge would almost always eventually fail by moisture intrusion and it would be impossible to open the door to put in gas. The emergency release cord inside the truck area would break while trying to use it. End result, people would get stranded running out of gas...

This was a common and notorious problem, but Audi never changed the piss-poor dollar-store engineering design. Bring back the old mechanical linkage...

RJJJ,

You seem to have various problems with your G06 50i: air conditioning compressor, slow ac kicking in, and now fuel cap. If I remember, you had issue with dealer who fixed the paint on the bumper without letting you know prior to delivery?

Sorry if I have mistaken you with someone.

Yes.... so unlucky, for my next car will definitely go for a Porsche... now I know why bmw's reliability rating is so low.

All manufactures have lemons and it sounds like you got one of them from BMW.

I can't wait to here how you like your Porsche. I would have considered one but they aren't big enough for what I need.

Yep. Door even looks depressed in the opening. And was there a reason you needed to press Unlock several times? Problem with unlocking as well?

No, that's the guy unlocking in the video. I have the same problem, when I press the fuel cap it cannot open itself...

Isn't there an emergency release somewhere inside the back panels on the same side near fuel door, like a green pull thing? My older bmw had one... Hunt around for a green thing...it's a manual override.

NVM, looks like BMW recently did away with the emergency release pull cord. What used to be a free fix, we now have to take to dealer... smh

It is still there in the g05.

In the back behind the removable part in the trunk.

Sorry in Dutch. But there is a green pulling thing behind the panel like mentioned above. It specially mentions the tank door opens without any clicking sound.

I once had to use this in my f15 40e when it didn't open but that was because the PHEV has a speciale pressure releasing function that didn't work.

The G05 2021 has the green pull. It is more toward the rear in the compartment and only about 3/4” in diameter.
