Does anybody in Europe have cornering lights that work?

I wonder if they were removed from US cars with the anti-dazzle due to some kind of glitch

BigCactus just posted that he has LED headlights in Europe, that include the cornering light cutout/mirrors...yet they don’t work on his either!

Wow. Come on BMW...fix this.

I take delivery this week and have a whole checklist printed out to go over with the CA & Genius. I will test and bring this up and ask for a case to be opened if they do not work, however, not having these prior it won't be anything to stop me from taking delivery/ being too upset.

"BMW LED"

552 Adaptive LED Headlight
5AC Highbeam Assistant
552 adaptive LED headlights is standard for all new X5.
So that means everyone should get cornering light feature. :
Apparently there is no cutout in mine even

It isn't a standard in Europe - you have to pay for them additionally almoust 1000$.

I just took my car out to check for this. Adaptive lights follow the road, but no cornering lights. I got the laser lights, and the car was built on 1/7.

I also noticed the ‘19 X3 loaner I was given had very functional frontal collision warning system! Came on multiple times while I had it for 1 day (red icon lighting up in the middle of the instrument cluster). I’ve yet to see our X5 collision warning indicator come on once in almost 3 months!

I can see this collision warning indicator almoust every day - always shows when I drive too close to another car on the highway, etc. No problem with this at all.

I don't think I explained this issue adequately as I just read the techs notes before pickup and they assumed I was talking about the headlights moving with the steering wheel direction and not the specific cornering lights. I've just sent additional info with a picture of the headlight with cornering light circled, and screen shot of section 6.2.3 of the tech guide (thanks forum!) referring them to item 8. They already had my car ready as they need to order a new KAFAS camera system, so if they can't look at this before pickup they'll look at it when I bring it back for that in 3-4 weeks.

Hmm...yeah. I guess I'm going to have to bring the issue up to our dealer next time the car is in. Uhg!

I had the same issue initially with our dealer. They told me the articulating headlights were working as intended. I had to explain that the issue wasn't that...but the separate cornering light.

After my clarifying email with photos, they took it back in the shop and told me to hold off coming to pick it up.

I wonder what exactly they are doing with it, as it doesn't seem to work for anyone. Nor is it explicitly listed as a function in the standard features nor in any option. I do see that it's listed in the manual, but maybe it's the manual that's wrong and not 100% of the delivered cars?

Not sure... but if they at least get to an answer, like if BMW tells them it's not a feature in the US or if there's some hardware/software issue, that would be great. I can't see how it can't be a feature though... my 2012 X3 had it (used the fog light on either side) and the '19 X3 I have as a loaner has it. It brightly lights to the side of the car based on the direction of the wheel.

Thanks - I agree it would be nice to get an answer on this and other "missing" features.

FYI, I've had the 8 series folks verify the cornering lights work on their US 2019 850i laser light equipped cars. They come on with the blinkers, in reverse, and with a hard wheel turn.

The X5 and 850 laser lights are identical in specs.

So ours SHOULD be working.

So now I know cornering lights illuminate on the following models: 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, X3, X4, and previous X5. I'm not sure about the 2 and X1...if they have them. Obviously not all these have laser lights right now, but they have at least LED headlights and have cornering lights that are functional.

UPDATE

Dealer confirmed that the cornering lights DO NOT work. They opened a PUMA case and I'm going to pick my car up today. They said it could be a few days before BMW responds. Hopefully they get an answer by the time the KAFAS replacement arrives so it can all be resolved at once.

He also did made a comment that my X5 doesn't look like the only one affected.

Mine's in the dealership today because my KAFAS camera came in early (was due in March, but came quickly). The cornering lights were on my list to check out too, and I'll pass this on to my Service Advisor. Thanks for the update!

I didn't. My dealer did after I kept getting a reduced assistance warning and a software update didn't fix it.

I was surprised, the camera came in 2 months early and they fixed it and did another software update in 7 hours all in a day. I thought they'd have it for a few days at least

Also, a regional rep happened to be there today and they grabbed him and asked about the cornering lights. He didn't think I had them because of the laser lights. He made 2 phone calls to confirm and told my SA "nope, this vehicle doesn't have them". She heard the whole conversation and definitely would have called him on BS for sure if she thought he was making stuff up.
So for now, I'm going with that. Owners manuals and parts schematics have been wrong before and I'm not sweating such a small thing. I can see just fine without them when I make a turn

This is opposite of what I was told... SA at my dealership took an 850 out with the same laser headlight assembly and they work. He's convinced it's a widespread issue bc I'm not the only one to complain. The tech and shop foreman have been talking to an engineer at BMW with the case they opened. The lights are there... they just don't work. And if they have them purposefully deactivated I'd like to know why... that would be pointless.
