I have a phenomenal relationship with my dealer. They’re selling me the car at around $2400 over invoice, or $3500 off MSRP. I’m absolutely positive I can beat that deal by shopping, but that’s not how you build a strong relationship. I got their first X5. If I want an M8, I get one of the first cases at MSRP, not $10k over. That’s what a great relationship looks like.

My offer from midwestern dealership: x5 4e. MSRP $78.5K with hitch included. Ship from east coast dealership. All fees included. $70K. No relationship with dealership. Another dealership: midwest location, no relationship, x5 40e, MSRP $81K with hitch. $72K all in. No shipping included. Both deals included financing and loyalty incentives. Will wait for G05 diesel or hybrid.

So if the typical profit margin (not including volume and other dealer-wide incentives) for the G05 is say 7%, then you are looking at a max profit of 5k on a $70k build give or take depending on option margins.
So $3-3.5k before incentives and credits seems like a pretty good deal on a brand new car (not good for a current model clearly). But isn't it true that neither side is committed to the transaction at time of order and things might be different at time of delivery (the buyer may be unhappy with the way it drives, the color, certain options sight unseen at order time or different incentives may be at play that make or break the deal, etc.) In reality it is great to get a 'target price' at order time but it certainly could change if either side wanted to press the issue at delivery. |

I will be very curious how long close to MSRP lasts. Audi Q7s are being offered with steep discounts and the high-end segment is now very competitive. BMW has discounted enough in the past that customers may expect it. The G05 will need to be a home run for prices to hold up - it is expensive considering that many features are now standard even in Honda and Toyota. Well - except the gesture control... Not comparing BMW to Honda, just pointing out the safety features have become commodities at this point as has LED lighting and even Car Play...oops BMW charges for that! |

I ordered a 2019 X5 today (Yay!) and it was priced Wholesale + $2,000.
In my case that was MSRP $81,300 and my price $78,160. I did not get a leather credit (I ordered extended Merino), but was told if BMW offers any incentives, they will be applied and come off my cost. |

And I agree that no BMW dealer would reneg...just that they could. Speaking of downpayment, what is the typical amount expected these days? When I ordered my 550 (too many years ago) I don't recall what I put down. |

i just find out on this forum that the best deals for leases are in California; you can order the car there and I guess you have to cover the transport...may be worth it
