Traffic jam assist
Just wondering if anyone in the UK has got a G05 with the handsfree driving?
I know it was coming after December 18, but wasn't sure that it reached this side of the pond. Can anyone who has recently picked one up, do you have hands free driving on motorways? Or do you have to keep hold of the steering wheel, like the old version? |

i had a loan of G05 last week while Im waiting on my new one.
It had the "handsfree" option however strictly speaking you need to keep you hand/thumb/knee on the steering wheel otherwise it'll cancel the option to remain in "handsfree". And yes, it does work on the motorway as well as A and B roads. |

The total hands free option works in the uk but only under very specific circumstances.
On a motorway, under 40 mph and you have to be looking at the road. While these criteria are met, hands free will work indefinitely. Edit: it was supposed to work, but BMW UK coded it out for the UK market Last edited by archivedaccount; 08-01-2019 at 09:30 AM.. |

The G05 uses an infrared camera to determine where your eyes are looking - if you're not watching the road in front of the car it can tell. Try it out in assisted driver mode - if you keep your eyes on the road the system stays in hands off mode. As soon as you glance away for too long (but keep your face forward) it will prompt you to pay attention. An infrared camera can track your eye position and with some simple maths, determine where you are looking. It's the same tech as FaceID on an iPhone. It is definitely not an iris scanner. |

Any real world results to report on this all? I'm looking for a confirmation if the Active Driving Assist Pro and Traffic Jam Assist work with non-polarized sunglasses. The polarized ones ruin HUD anyway so I don't keep them in the cars with it. As long as this will work with regular lenses, I'll be happy.
