Nice so the 10-2022 leaks were correct. I’m not looking forward to no buttons, everything being in the infotainment, which just doesn’t work and the gear selector being a little knob like the rest of the line up just makes the new generation stand out less and less. I’m scared to even imagine the front end, luckily not full electric, so you don’t get the ugly tallness of the i5 with the blacked out lower trim to make it seem shorter. I’m excited for improvements to seat if they can get any better and suspension. My F90 seats are absolutely amazing. The interior just hits the right balance of modern, but without unnecessary blandness to force some sort of minimalistic Tesla esq looking interior. Considering the F90 lost weight to the F10 and gained huge improvements. I have the feeling we won’t ever see that again with electrification. Welcome to the world of 5000-6000lb sedans :/. Kinda excited, but I’m pretty sure this is gonna get the S68 that’s inside the new X6M and X5M? Neat, but does it address anything from the S63, or will it just use that electric motor and not do anything since the whole goal is remove engines completely? All within due time… hey, at least we got a wagon right? Although the RS6 Avant is hard to beat looks wise. And with the absolutely horrid markups. I’m already putting money on minimum 10k. I hate buying cars in the US sometimes.

I love it. I doubt I'll be able to afford it but I'm going to see what I can do.

Just so let you know headroom in x6 vs New 5 Series is lower

I am huge fan of wagons and I absolutely despise SUVs for many reasons. Although I was really looking forward to M5 wagon to make it to our side of the pond I am no longer excited after seeing new 5 series. I really wanted to have it next to our E63 wagon one day however the styling is just not for me. I am not looking forward to see another 5K plus lbs hybrid that’s ride is going to be ruined by ridiculously harsh suspension that can support such weight with that amount of power. Plus the idrive 8 or whatever it’ll be. I literally hated those infotainment screens that would be sticking out if the dashboards of the cars for many years even though I have/had some. Now they decided that the whole cluster will be cool sticking out looking like an afterthought. I will be watching how this turns out to be though and good luck to anyone that is on the list and get it.

I no longer have either of those two vehicles. Not counting the general issues with iDrive 8, I’m enjoying my iX M60. Plenty of headroom!

I do not understand SUV's. If you enjoy driving dynamics, this is a moot point. What objective way is a SUV better than a wagon?

I’m not debating the two. I just think station wagons in general are ugly. All I was saying is it SUVs are very prevalent in the United States. that’s what most families use to get around - so it seems…

Is the engine and drivetrain setup in the current XM and X5/6 Ms the same?

To me, the XM felt odd in the engine drivetrain department.

Hope the M5 Touring gets the SAVs engine and drivetrain tune.

As am I, and I'm torso long not legs long so I get it. It's not easy to fit in many vehicles.

Also, sorry about your misfortune with HPD. Can't say I'm surprised though...

I understand fast suv market for people that only can have one vehicle. But for someone that has 2 or more not much. There will always be quicker sedan/coupe than those fast SUVs and there will always be more comfortable one than X5/6 M cayenne turbo GLE63 and so on. My wife is in the business and trust me. There are many people buying very expensive cars at an impulse. Many more than I thought, although because of how much harder it is to get what you want now vs few years ago we don’t see so many fairly new cars with super low milage like 500 to a few thousand miles that were returned because that wasn’t it so in general it seems like people are more cautious with their vehicle choices.

Where do you see the price? Or you just guessing it will cost the same as a regular m5?

XM felt absolutely awful when I drove it, I don't know how they sell them honestly. Local dealer still has their original one.

I think its kind of a funny premise. . . They claim there is "no demand" for an m3 (or even just a 3 series touring) in the US so they won't drop a cheaper one. Then they drop one into a super expensive, "mega touring" category that's market really can't be all that big.

Is their goal to get 1/2 of the sales from MB e63 and 1/2 of the sales from Audi RS6 potential buyers? Even that's a lofty goal, getting 1/3 of the sales in the super-touring marketplace.

I feel like its funny to claim that there is "no demand" for something when instead it is impossible to gauge demand, since there is actually "no supply."

In this instance, perhaps if the e63 and rs6 are oversold, maybe they can gauge that there is, in fact, demand?

I just wish the car companies would stop playing copy cat and start innovating again. You have to "create demand," that's what innovation is all about.

Get the space of an suv without sacrifices like higher center of gravity, etc.

I'm going to order one of these. My only disappointment is that I can't pick it up at the Welt....

Roads are just so terrible here. I prefer to drive an SUV like the X5M rather than my M8. I have had 6 tire blowouts and 3 new rims in 2 years of ownership (not to mention 8-10 "straightenings" of bent rims). As of today, the 8 series still does not drive straight and has constant vibrations.

Does this mean the regular 5 touring is also being brought to the USA?

Sold my E91 this year, really miss having a BMW wagon in the fleet.

Makes sense. I guess I can see the appeal for some people. Like I said originally, if I had to have a station wagon, this would be the one to get.
