Is Acoustic Glass still an option on the 2022 X5?
Briefly skimmed through online configurator (USA) - and did not see acoustic glass as an option for the X5. Is it part of another package, did I miss it or is it not an option any longer? I saw in earlier posts it used to be a $150 add on on previous years.
Thanks! |

Believe it is no longer available in the US. It is still available for some other markets, however. Since it was available at one time in the US, you can still order the replacement glass but it is quite a production to retrofit.

Cannot believe you guys in the US cannot get RWS, RSE and Accoustic Glass in a 45e, what else is not available?
Think you cannot get a towbar with 22" wheels also?

can't order 22" wheels on U.S. 45e either due to run flat requirement (largest with run flat is 21") can order tow hitch, though

Acoustic is one of the best options, I can't imagine buying a SUV without it. It soothes the interior. What's BMW doing? Bring it back!

Even though the 45e is relatively quite (especially in electric mode) as is, shame on BMW for not making acoustic glass standard on every vehicle. Even a former owned base-model 2018 Ford F-150 of mine had it.

it hasn't been available in the US market since MY21. it's not standard even in markets where it is available; they have to option it to get it to be clear, we're not talking about the front windshield which is standard on all X5. we're talking about select side windows |

My SQ5 is optioned with it, and Its a noticeable difference from cars without. I would of imagined an X5 would of came standard with that by now. I can't believe I need to go up to the X7 to have that as standard equipment. Any ideas when orders / guide for the LCI will be available? |

2) MY20 will have it IF the owner optioned it (again, it's not a standard feature.) 3) due to the supply shortage, BMW allotted whatever supply is available for the X7 because it's a standard feature for it. they won't allow X5 owners to option and risk taking the acoustic glass supply away from the X7. 4) the prevailing theory is LCI orders will start in April 2023, but there's one guy who said it'll start as early as Jan/Feb 2023. IOW, nothing official yet |

It sounds like we're def ways away a bit from the LCI, I was looking at picking something up in the next month or so. Will consider a '20 but would really like a newer one for more warranty etc. Thanks! |

The glass itself is about $400 per window for BMW glass. Third party installers will be less expensive but dealers, at least some a couple a years ago, were charging $400 a window for install.

Cost is the biggest factor since it would be around $2400 for all 6 windows. I replaced the front windows with the Acoustic Glass on my G01 a few years ago, I managed to get both for around $700. Took longer than 90 minutes on the first side just being cautious and going slow, second side was much easier once you know what you’re doing.

I only replaced 4 of them and it made a difference, but that could also be subjective. I only recommend this upgrade as a DIY, otherwise it is not worth it if not a factory option.
