Yep - plenty of walk through on this site. I also found some on bimmerfest too. If you google VO coding, there's a lot of resources.

I previously read on eaglesrest guide here with links to bimmerfest, downloaded Esys and psdzdata lite. Just need to get my hands dirty.

Just make sure that psdzdata is recent enough to include your current ISTEP version.

Also note that VO coding sets the coded ECU back to stock settings, so you may need to use BimmerCode afterward again to get those reset settings back in those specific ECUs.

@LexxM3 , so I had E-sys setup with PsdZData lite 4.21.32 and followed the instructions from the pdf install instructions. It looks like S18A has *19_07_575_* and *19_11_555_* which are later than my 0755 (?).

Can I use E-sys 3.33.4 to VO code? I'm a little confused about the instructions from the "other forum" about the need for the pro launcher for this version. Otherwise, I can use 3.27.1. I also thought I saw @ifr mentioned 3.34 being available, where can that be downloaded?

Just preparing the SW for now while waiting for my ENET cable to arrive next week.

Thanks!

That psdzdata is good for your situation. That ESys 3.33.4 version is also good for your situation (I'd skip 3.34 for now and for your situation). Except for the cable and computer, you are ready to VO code as it stands; don't need anything else for VO coding.

It's puzzling as its a binary on/off connection. If the app doesnt support your adapter then it should not allow any connection to the car. If it allows it and you can read the SVT on the S18A connector (G05 etc), which it sounds like you most certainly can, then you can access and code any ECU that BC supports.

I gather BDC support is new in BC, do you have a version of the BC app that supports it?

Maybe the dev locks out BDC for some other obscure reason with unsupported adapters, but if you can read and code HU_MGU then you can technically read and code BDC, subject to code mappings being supported within the app.
Finally had a chance to mess with the wife's car and indeed I had to disable to speed lock on guest profile.

Sorry about the confusion. I guess the bmw "genius" wasn't a genius after all lol

How do you restore all the factory settings? Use the oldest backup - the first one?

Yes. I believe Bimmercode backups are per ECU as well.

The ENET and Ethernet adapter are a lot faster then the wireless MX+. Took me less than 5 minutes to check all available BC menus and code everything that I want. Reading and coding BDC alone took me almost 5 minutes with MX+. I'm pretty happy with these cables.

While unrelated to BC, I tried removing 5AP from FA and VO code using E-Sys. Just need to observe if anti-dazzle really works.

The originally saved FA xml and the modified one have 1 line diff - 5AP. I read SVT (VCM?) and coded BDC_BODY3, HU_MGU, FLM2 43/44 and KAFAS4, in that order.

Not everything went to stock, though, when I checked with BimmerCode. ADV, M logo at startup, IC logo, ASS, etc., are still there. So I'm not really sure if I did VO coding correctly. How to verify this?

To be clear only the following got reset after VO coding: BDC (drive mode back to comfort) and HU-MGU (e.g., start animation, tire pressure control). Other settings stayed.

I again tried loading the original FA from saved XML, code, and remove 5AP again and code. Both were successful ("Abarbeitung bender") and every time I connect with BimmerCode BDC and HU-MGU settings are lost. So it seems I got my very first VO coding done.

just got MX+ blue tooth today. in it's instructions it says to donwload the MX app. do i need this?

these instructions are on page 1 of this thread. is this all i need to do, and forget about the app for MX?

1. Buy a Bluetooth based ODBLink LX/MX/MX+ adapter module. This plugs into the car's diagnostic/ECU port in the driver footwell.
2. Get Bimmercode App on your phone. (I use an Android/Samsung s10)
3. Plug the OBDLink adaptor into the diagnostic port.
4. Press the Start/Stop button in your car three times in quick succession to put the car into Diagnostic mode.
5. Put your phone into "Flight/Aeroplane" mode, then enable only Bluetooth.
5. Run Bimmercode. Your phone will use Bluetooth to connect to the car through the OBDLink Adapter. Once connected, you will see the ECUs supported for the G05 listed.
6. Start coding

Not needed to code but needed to connect the adapter to your phone via Bluetooth. You use it once and then are done with it.

Thanks for the correction. I forgot that too quickly

Another advantage of the Enet cable is that if you ever evolve into more advance coding using Esys and a Token from Laucher Pro or EsysX, you will already have the required hardware.
So, if you need Enet + adapter for EsysX coding what hardware do you need to do the same coding with Android? As mentioned earlier in this thread the Enet + Adapter is not listed as an option for Android devices on Bimmercodes website.

I'm thinking about coding first with Bimmercode but maybe venturing into EsysX later on. So what hardware do I need for Android to accomplish this?

just completed my first foray into coding LOL. successful attempt at the basics - start/stop, BDC, etc.

Is there anyway to code the suspension height?

Don't think there's a way through bimmercode. One poster said a 3rd party was able to code it for him. I'm assuming they used Esys to do it. However I haven't seen anyone on this forum show which modules to code. This was a common request for people with air suspension. That's why I'm surprised if there was a way to do it that it's not on these forums.
