They are just as noisy as the ones I had on the 2016. Those were 20s and the all seasons were so much nicer and quieter |

Thanks for this post and conversation.
Seeking help here. 2022 X5 xDrive40i M Sport Adaptive M suspension M Sport Brakes 21" staggered Front: 275/40 R21 Rear: 315/35 R21 I would like to have a bigger sidewall /aspect ratio for overall commute ride quality and maybe a little more rugged look. I noticed the OP here has the size that I think would work for me. Those are non-RFT? I am currently on runflats. Can you guys please help me understand what I can expect if I swap mine out for 45 in front and 40 in rear? I’ve driven 27K miles on current setup. Thank you |

That said and at the cost of sounding like an idiot, I also have to ask - would I be stressing the X5 systems down in performance in any way? The xDrive system, I guess mpg reading would be off?…and what about power distribution, strain on the motor, etc. ? In summary, anything further I may be missing here when making this decision? Thanks again! |

Well, that’s the million dollar question. I think OP didn’t report any problems after thousands of miles and a bunch of people confirmed with BMW that there shouldn’t be any issues with the xDrive system, since the diameter difference between front and rear tires is ~1%.
I’m not really sure how this affects the warranty though. Say if your headlights break (or any other system not related to drive train) they obviously can’t blame the non standard tires. But if you have trouble with the drive train, they could easily blame it on the tires and deny warranty. Although in that case they would have to prove exactly how the tires caused the problems. But don’t take my word for it, confirm with your BMW guy. |

This loaner has only 32 miles. It does not have the packages I have. It’s not M Sport, does not have the luxury options etc I have on the interior. The twist I refer to here is that this loaner rides so much smoother than mine. What in the hell is going on here? While driving I was convinced this was a square setup on 20” but as soon as I got I checked and see the same tire setup. Is the M Sport suspension that rough in comparison to the standard? At that, what is the standard suspension without M Sport package? Is it the xDrive system that makes mine feel so…heavy and bumpier..more rigid? Steering the loaner feels so much easier and brakes are super comfortable too. I have the M Sport brakes on mine and they feel Iike I have push down quite a bit for them to engage the way I want to. I’m about to drive this thing around after I put the kids to bed. Im blown away at this point…feeling like I don’t understand the vehicle I purchased at premium and driven for nearly 30k miles now. Your guys thoughts and opinions welcome. |

I feel the X5 has much better suspension compared to my X6. There is similar tire road noise on rough roads but the x5 seems to handle potholes and uneven road surfaces much more gently. I also feel like the X5 engine is more refined/smoother sounding. |

The same as my X5.
Front 275/40 21 Rear 315/35 21 My vehicle is due for new tires now. I’m considering going with larger aspect ratio which would be Yokohama non-run flat. Hoping that would give me a better ride overall. That said, if I get a flat on those…I would definitely need a flatbed (XDrive). |

My 2019 X5 with about 26k miles is needing new tires soon and I found this thread. I have the 275/45R20 on all four wheels and looking to do A/S Michelin's, but I don't see the Primacy A/S available.
I found the Pilot Sport A/S 3 at Costco and Discount tire (these). Thoughts on this tire? In the discussion, OP states that his are Primacy Tour A/S, but I did see he considered the Pilot Sport, so apologies for my confusion. |

Other than Michelin Primacy, anyone considered CONTINENTAL CROSSCONTACT LX SPORT?
I was reviewing reviews and other than treadwear is faster than Continental claimed, it looks pretty good. |

Alright, I did it. Michelin Primacy Tour A/S non-runflat in higher aspect ratio (45 Front 40 Rear)
2 days in. Some highway driving and a bit down the street. Keep in mind, the Pirelli run flats were at 29k miles with even wear all the way around. Old tires to new tires, of course, there are some improvements. That said, what I’ve observed so far is ride height has increased to a more comfortable stance for me, I still feel in control and safe, I’ve become unhealthily paranoid of unsafe ride height etc., brakes happy because of new tires, ride is much smoother numbing the bumps a bit and quiet ( I know we don’t go with Adaptive M for a soft cushion) but that’s what I want a little bit of in life right now, not feeling so much of the shift, sway and jerkiness so much as I felt before while making turns. Power delivery to the road indeed feels a bit different although, I’m not pushing so much; not driving aggressively. It’s comfortable. Now, as to aesthetics it does look and feel slightly taller. The tires are msssive! It’s given me a new perspective on the vehicle. I do think I will replace the wheels with something a little more simple. I may want to equip a roof rack and roof box for road trips in the near future. Have a look |

Despite reading this thread (multiple times, I think lol), I don’t recall reading a confirmation that this size will work with adaptive suspension on 45/50e??

Right!? BMW Technicians were impressed. Relaxed driving I guess. My Sport Individual mode is set to sport steering with all else in comfort. I don’t know just how much that affects the tire wear. I would put it in Sport once in a while when I’m driving with no passengers. Most of the 30k miles have been highway.
Naturally, one of the things I did notice toward the end of the Pirelli’s is increased stopping distance when I engaged the brakes. That wasn’t fun. If anyone is considering going with non run flats you don’t have to increase the aspect ratio. You will gain some comfort just by getting rid of runflats. |

If so, yes, they will work, someone else already got confirmation form a BMW tech: See this thread(specifically post #5): https://g05.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh...php?p=26631854 I will be putting aftermarket 22" wheels on my 50e(air suspension) with the following tires with no concerns: Front: 285/40 R22 Rear: 325/35 R22 Also, see my post here: https://g05.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh...41&postcount=8 Last edited by Matt 335is; 08-16-2023 at 09:26 AM.. |
