40i:
Zero to 60 mph: 4.9 sec Roadholding, 300-ft-dia skidpad: 0.89 g Not too long ago, these used to be "sports car" numbers. Amazing that a 4872 lb. SUV can do this with a 3 L engine, while returning 19 mpg! |

I wonder why it held the skidpad better than a 50i

I was thinking the same thing, I'll have to reread the short review

I think it's the weight distribution
40i 50.1 / 49.9 50i 51.6 / 48.4

This review says the X5 is as fast as an Audi SQ5. Impressive.

New review from Alex on Autos. He tested with the air suspension. Interesting comments from him and a comparison to competitors.

This is probably the most positive / WOW kind of review I have seen on the new X5. I would prescribe to watch it twice a day to all suffering from BMW first year bugs sorry this totally does not intend to be a sarcasm, just could not resist as review is overly positive, maybe even too much

C&D Cayenne vs X5 vs MB vs Q7
Haven't seen online yet, but Magazine now has 4-SUV test. Cayenne edged out X5 by one point, but "non- subjective" results show the X5 the clear winner (IMO). And giving the MB a 10 on ext. styling???

But at least Porsche is a true competition to x5 in handling and power. Problem is you need to spend 130K to make Cayenne exciting. |

I have seen many reviews now that show the new GLE as the 'winner' for exterior styling. Drove one over the weekend, just wasn't a big fan - certainly you have to put the AMG exterior package on it at the very least, but to me even the wheels options were underwhelming....

Just posted a couple hours ago...... the first ones to do a thorough review of the 2020 X5 M50i. I check youtube every day since I ordered mine.... so I've been waiting patiently for one.
No affiliation. It's no "Doug demuro" review (I love that guy).... but it's not bad. This guy did a decent job. Maybe add it to the list on the first post? |

1. this m50i review video consists of 90% of "data readout" you can read from bmw website... there isn't much criticism so it reads more like a dealership review than anything. it's not surprising since a dealer employee was with him. can a reputable journalist please review this car and do a proper test?
2. the last thing he said--tiny LEDs light in the moonroof--was misinformed. i heard that from many people, not just him, but to any discerning person w/ any common sense, upon a closer look, will immediately know that those dots in the glass are NOT LEDs. those are etching in the glass--imperfections to reflect lights from the side of the glass. Without imperfection, light will simply pass through the body of glass (think glass fiber); imperfection will reflect the light outward (think the terminus of a fiber) 3. the exhaust sound is very muted when actually driving a m50i, so not sure how he was able to isolate it out so clearly in the video. 4. there are so many bad things about m50i but he didn't say any of them, probably because he didn't really spend time driving it and using it. things u only see when you spend a lot of time with it. see my other posts for them. |
