body work - paint scratches & chips

2022 BMW X6 M50i

A terrible event occurred today in Brooklyn. I ran over a bungee cord and one of the hooks got stuck in my tire. The other end was loose and each time my wheel turned, it smacked the side of the car. I stopped a quickly as I could, but the damage was unavoidable.

Most of the damage appears superficial and can be buffed out, but there are several deeper scratches and chips. Any recommendations on shops to use in NYC/NJ area?

Photo shows the bungee cord after I cut off the end so I could drive it to a nearby tire shop.

Had really good luck with Gotham Collision in LIC a few years ago. Truck backed into our 3 series and drove off. They had to replace door skin and repair fender. After, we put it in my dad's shop (he's a mechanic who's done a fair amount of body work over the years) and could not see any difference from factor paint. It looked perfect.

Owner is also a BMW guy who I've seen post on here in the past (although I don't remember his forum handle).

Good gawd that's horrific! I'm assuming it'll be covered under comprehensive?

I had kind of a similar thing, not nearly as bad, but a giant bolt that scratched up the wheel well lip ... anyway comp covered it and the fix was completely invisible.

Theoretically doesn't comp not count as an insurance claim?

Yeah shouldn't raise premium that much I guess, but also hate having a damaged carfax

BMW fixed it. Looks great. Put it through insurance as a comprehensive claim
