Can I turn on defroster with remote start / preconditioning?

According to the manual, preconditioning the car seems to mean the car will automatically adjust the internal temperature based on the external environment, but I can't seem to find a way to create a rule to have the defrost turn on for example. My questions:

1) Can I have the defroster run via remote start/pre condition?
2) Can I adjust the fan speed? When I get in the car (with remote start) the fan is usually around 1 or 2, but that may have just been where it was set when I last drove so I can't tell.

I woke up to half a foot of snow today and being able to warm up the windshield sure would have helped a bit.

Any help from those in the know?

Remote start on an ICE, I hear, runs for 15-minutes. The first few, there won't be much of any heat. The PHEV never runs the engine, but that cycle lasts about 30-minutes, which I've found creates enough cabin heat to make cleaning off the windshield easy. My previous ICE was too old to have remote start, so I can't compare.

I've only peeked through the programming by a small amount, but have not seen anything that would modify where the air is directed during that process.
